Memes depicting Lake Pontchartrain and the Suez Canal as evidence there is no curvature and therefore the earth is flat serve as examples in this video detailing the confusion people are having concerning the curvature of the earth. People are mixing up two different formula. They correctly calculate the drop of the curve using the 8 inches times the miles squared. Then they fail to establish the required geometry to measure the drop of the curve down from, i.e., the horizontal tangent plane. Instead they misapply the drop distance to the line of sight tangent to the horizon and then complain they can still see the thing they mistakenly say should be below the horizon. The people that use the curve calculator website curse the people using 8″xM^2 for coming up with numbers that are hugely different from the numbers generated by the website calculator which actually does compute the correct distance things will be below the horizon. It’s a complete mess of miscommunication and misunderstanding.

Eight minutes into this video and this repetitive babbling buffoon still hasn’t shown anything of substance.
Forget looking out into water. Look down the coastline as the waters edge and beach sand makes a wonderful contrast and you do not have to worry about waves obscuring your view. Use a map to predetermine the distance that you are viewing.
Even if you could prove that the Pythagorean Curve chart is wrong, there still has to be some curve. Standing at the water line on the beach where I live, with my Nikon P900, I can take a picture of a man on the beach 10 miles down the coast. I have a photograph of his feet from 10 miles away! Anybody on the coast or a large lake can do exactly the same. Do it on a calm day to minimize the pollution in the air.
Patients may be required to get through the videos but this guy is no buffoon, he knows his craft and does explain why so many flat earthers are not using the formula and/or calculator correctly. You may very well be able see a person’s feet with your P900 but what you can’t do with your P900 is establish the proper elevation reference points (the line of sight at 90 degrees to the plum from the camera…….you have to have the precision leveled cross hairs, as are in his surveying telescope, to give you that reference point (projected out to the target) to measure from. The Pythagorean Curve chart is not wrong it is just not being correctly interpreted. That horizontal cross hair in the scope is set at a precise elevation and is the tangent line of sight at 90 degrees to plum and is the reference point that you use to measure the curvature from……..without the cross hair you will not see the curvature, your line of sight will drop (from the 90 degree point) to the horizon and you will think you are observing no curvature……..this is why most people claim there’s no visible curvature. You may need to view these videos several times to absorb the information and gain a clear understanding of what is being shared…..I know I did.
This is the cold, hard truth that most flat earthers don’t see and understand is causing them to not see the curvature that is clearly right in front of their eyes and can be repeatedly measured and demonstrated.
Bullshit. I am standing at the water line of sea “level”. I am looking ten miles down the beach of a known distance and see where the water and beach meet. Both of these points are “sea level”. You can fool around with lens bars all you want but the math clearly shows that I should not be able to see humans, umbrellas and beach tables that far away if we are on a ball of 24,901 miles as taught.
Your interpretation of the calculations is not correct. Sorry !! Your eye level is not sea level, first mistake. You CAN NOT determine/discern the curvature drop with the naked eye or your P900 without following the surveying procedures, second mistake. You are not reading and interpreting the curvature formula and calculator data correctly, third mistake…….that’s why you seem to think that your target should not be viewable. The actual curvature drop will not be visible to you without
the surveyor scope cross hairs properly set up…..no matter how much of fit you want to through.
You must be a kool-aide drinking flat earther that refuses to receive truth, even from a professional surveyor who knows a lot more about the subject than you and your flawed observations, calculations and conclusions. If you choose to be unteachable ……well that’s your choice……good luck with that.

God has given the Earth-bound observer all he needs to get to the bottom of this question, even without technology (which God probably hates).
Flat-earthers have no answer for the lunar eclipse. No matter the always varying positions and angles of the Earth, Moon and Sun relative to each other (which even flat-earther’s concede), the Earth will always cast a round shadow onto the Moon’s surface during a lunar eclipse. If the Earth were disk-shaped, that shadow would most often appear as an ellipse of varying thickness, sometimes very thin — it would only rarely appear as a circle.
Only one shape casts a round shadow onto another surface, no matter from which angle the light behind the sphere is projected. A sphere.
That’s another case-closed. But I have painted flat-earthers into a corner with this point, and they’ve ‘escaped’ by informing me that the Moon is actually its own light source, and therefore the Moon can project onto itself whatever sort of Earth shadow it wants to project, in order to sustain the illusion of a round Earth.
There really is little point in dialogue with such people. There once was a time when, if an adult ever employed such childlike (an insult to children) ‘reasoning’ in actual dialogue…
…you could just smack them.

But between us and the bright fringes velocities there’s no difference in velocity…. So each of us sees the other as matter
