Only reason to face a Nuclear disaster now is because the power industry refuses to build a patented 100% pollution free power plant patented in 1995. These plants run on gravity, so nothing to burn, nothing consumed, and ZERO pollution! As gravity if free, there is no fuel to buy so the power would be the cheapest ever in history! Every Big name in the US gov has had this sent to them all the way back to Bill Clinton. The US gov funded and or built EVERY new power source we ever had! The gov “GAVE” Edison the money to build the first coal fired plant, built all our dams, built our first Nuclear reactors and 2 of which blew up but that got covered up, and did all the development work on the turbine engine running our natural gas plants. Nuclear has gotten billions in gov, solar and wind God only knows how many millions, but not 1 cent for 100% clean fuel-less patented electric power.
This has been to utility companies from east to west and several wanted to “Buy” the patent but all made it clear that building any such plant was NEVER to be on the table. Balderdash. Different design than what? You haven’t even defined your “different”. At fukushima the generators were safe from flooding, but the fuel tanks were at harbor level, they were the first to go.
