More than 300,000 customers are without power, and a boil water advisory is in effect for Corpus Christi.

With dire warnings of tornadoes, torrential downpours and days of flooding to come, broad swaths of southeast Texas were littered with uprooted trees, toppled signs, flagpoles that snapped like toothpicks and clusters of bricks peeled like scabs from walls and rooftops.

The damage from the storm could be on par with Hurricane Katrina.

If Harvey wasn’t enough punishment, they also had a tornado.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) — A tornado has hit a Houston-area community and a tornado watch is in effect across southeast Texas and in parts of southwest Louisiana.

The tornado wound through the Houston suburb of Cypress, damaging several homes and buildings but causing no apparent injuries.

Authorities say sheriff’s deputies in the Houston area saw a tornado touchdown about four times near Cypress as Tropical Storm Harvey pounds Texas. AP

Hurricane Harvey aftermath: At least 3 dead as storm rampages across Texas

At least 3 people died and up to 14 more were injured as Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas Gulf Coast town of Rockport on Saturday, causing major damage. Dozens of buildings had their roofs blown off, while numerous vehicles were damaged beyond repair, as numerous trees and utility pole dislodged and fell on top of them.

At least 3 dead as Hurricane Harvey continues rampage across Texas

At least three people have died and thousands of others left without power as emergency services continue to battle “catastrophic flooding” across Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The National Hurricane Center downgraded the storm from category 4 to category 1 on the Saffir-Simpson scale earlier on Saturday before later downgrading it to a tropical storm. However, meteorologists warn that major damage could come from flooding, with torrential rains expected to continue for days.
