Safety warning, mandatory recall notice issued for some Sig Sauer rifles

Sig Sauer announced Friday that some Sig 716 DMR, 516 Carbon Fiber, and M400 Predators with two-stage triggers may have an improperly heat-treated hammer.
“Over time this could result in a trigger malfunction creating a significant safety hazard,” said a release from the company, announcing the mandatory recall on select models to replace the hammer and trigger assembly.
To determine if a particular model is subject to the recall, the New Hampshire-based arms maker notes that potentially affected models will have a “SIG” mark etched into the hammer and has a serial-number look-up tool online with instructions to follow.
After contacting Sig, those with rifles that fall into the recall range will be sent a pre-addressed shipping label and box to ship their lower to the factory, with an estimated turnaround of 2-3 weeks to receive the modified gun back.
The recall does not affect any military or law enforcement rifles or any SIG MCX or MPX products.
