The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Russian government backed hackers stole U.S secrets on how to penetrate foreign computer networks and how to protect against cyberattacks after an NSA contractor had put classified information on his home computer. They were able to access the files as the contractor was using a popular antivirus software from the Russian based Kapersky Lab. Kapersky Lab has 400 million customers globally and has denied that it spies for the Russian Government. Kapersky products have been banned in federal networks since September this year for concerns that the company may be a pawn of the Kremlin.

Newly declassified documents reveal that while the 1957 launch of Sputnik I shocked the American public, the CIA knew about the impending rocket launch well in advance.
