We are surrounded by so many obvious signs that one would have to be blind not to see them, yet some fail to recognize them even when they are called to their attention

If you think we are living in scary times, our worst fears may be confirmed by crimes and violence across the globe. People are looking at the signs that the world is going to end, with anxiety and fear. The signs are all around us. There is global warming, rising gas and energy prices, shortages of food and water, disasters on land and sea. There are new diseases and economic uncertainty. Terrorist activity is increasing and banks are failing.

But conditions in the world have been getting progressively worse for many years. How do we know when things have gotten so bad that the world is soon going to end?

When you think about it, it makes sense we are living on the threshold of the end right now. In the last few months have been witnesses at several terrorist attacks, conflicts where people who struggle for freedom, racism, hatred and greed… The recent events show us how close we are to the end of the world, a world of evil thoughts and terrible acts, violence grow bigger every day. The signs show our generation is living in the last days.

We live in difficult times. From all parts of the earth, we hear a steady stream of news describing calamities and social unrest. Is there any special significance to the current world situation?

The signs of the current events where evil and violent are present everywhere, and if the signs are present in abundance, we can be certain that we are, in fact, living in the end times. Almost every sign of the end says to look for is present right now!

The world is in such a mess these days that most of the people are starting to think what is going on and what will become of all this. Why are all these things happening in our day?  The answer can only be found through a source that the majority of people have forgotten about … The Holy Bible! When you study the Word of God you will see that these things were prophesied to happen a long time ago. Then the mystery begins to unfold and our eyes begin to open as to why this world is in such a terrible state.

With the chaos and uncertainty growing around the world almost daily, more people than ever should be asking “are we living in perilous times?” There is no doubt about that. Let’s just take one example of what is happening today. There are uprisings all around the world, with people protesting and rioting and governments toppling. The people are starting to see the power they have if they get together. And this is a very dangerous situation and one that will lead to the image of the beast being formed, which will bring on the enforcement of the beast’s mark. And with the economy melting all around the world, with countries nearing bankruptcy, the world is becoming ripe for a one world currency, which will aid with enforcing the mark and stop those who refuse the mark from “buying and selling”

Major events that are taking place more and more frequently and with more intensity. There is no doubt we are living in the end times, and these news items only further prove where we are in history.

‘If the sign that we are near the end is so obvious,’ you might ask, ‘why do so many people fail to recognize it?’ The Bible shows that when the end is near, many will belittle the evidence. Rather than acknowledge the fundamental changes during the last days, they would scoff: “From the day our forefathers fell asleep in death, all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.” (2 Peter 3:3, 4) In other words, the sign of the last days is clear, but many will ignore it.—Matthew 24:38, 39.
