United States Pinning Down Iran

The battle continues…

On Monday morning, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will announce to the media that, as of May 2, the State Department will no longer grant sanctions waivers to any country that is currently importing Iranian crude or condensate, two State Department officials told me. Last November, the State Department issued 180-day waivers to eight countries to give them more time to find alternative sources of oil. Now, their time is running out.

The United States continues their onslaught against Iran in the hopes to bring their oil trading to nothing. A move like this would heavily cripple the country even more. The US seems relentless to pound Iran into the ground. While officials say that market disruption should be minimal from this, Iran will surely suffer. As for our markets and other countries, Pompeo promises big gains from this since the supply is now higher than demand thanks to Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Three of the eight countries that received U.S. waivers last November have already reduced their Iranian oil imports to zero: Greece, Italy and Taiwan. The other countries that will now have to cut off Iranian oil imports or be subject to U.S. sanctions are China, India, Turkey, Japan and South Korea.

China, a major issue for the US lately, and several allies are on that list. So what will happen there? Will these countries look to other sources and comply with the US’ orders or will they take sanctions? The US is handing them out like hotcakes and if they continue they are only going to anger more nations and lose friends. It really is starting to look like Mr. Trump is trying an American conquest.
