SENOMYX is labeled generically as an artificial flavor in foods derived from aborted fetal cell technology

Senomyx created artificial flavors no differently than any other company.  However, what they did differently is use HEK-293 aborted fetal cell lines as their testing mechanism to ensure the flavor is what they wanted.  They take a sample of the completed flavor and test that sample.

The cells contain a G-protein that mimics cell receptors on the tongue and sends a chemical signal back to the scientists letting them know whether the flavoring is proper or not.  That’s the extent of their use.

Initially in our campaign to end this unnecessary testing methods there were several companies with pending contracts such as Kraft, Campbells Soup, Solae, etc – all dropped their contracts with Senomyx – thanks to intensive pressure and boycotting with the exception of PepsiCo.  Pepsi finally caved after one year of the boycott – and they also formulated a “responsible research” statement:

“PepsiCo’s research processes and those of our partners are confidential for competitive reasons. However, PepsiCo does not conduct or fund research – including research funded by PepsiCo but performed by third parties – that utilizes any human tissue or cell lines derived from embryos or fetuses.” http://www.pepsico.com/sustainability/A-Z-Topics  (under Responsible Research)

VLA COMMENT: What were the long term studies?  Thje chemical used to fool the tastebuds fills one side of an index card.

It would be devastating if human beings were no longer able to “taste”. Food and eating is one of humanity’s great pleasure, comforts and gift. Think how it would be if our tastebuds were artificially and forever incapacitated. This would be a step that leads to TRANSHUMANISM whereby artificial senses are substituted for natural ones. 

Nestle coffee creamers, Magi soup products, Ajinomoto spices, Firmenich  – those products all contain Senomyx flavors that were tested on the aborted fetal cells.
