Chaos reigns in Atlanta following police shooting

Leftist politics and race in forefront as white officer who acted in self defense has been terminated

As violence overtakes sectors of Atlanta after a police confrontation ended in the death of intoxicated Rayshard Brooks, police chief Erika Shields resigned. Abandoning the city’s officers in a time of unrest, the openly gay chief issued this bizarre statement, “Our posture in Atlanta is one of tolerance, It’s the birthplace of civil rights.”

What exactly she tolerates was left unclear. Brooks, who failed a field sobriety test, then grabbed the officer’s Taser, an incapacitating device. The threat of Brooks using the Taser to facilitate going for the officer’s gun was compelling enough that the officer fired, killing Brooks.

Brooks’ family, realizing that he is of more value dead than alive, immediately hired a team of three black lawyers who held a lengthy news conference, that was nationally televised.

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, acting as judge and jury announced at a press briefing Saturday evening that she did not believe the shooting was a “justified use of deadly force,” and called for the “immediate termination of the officer” who shot the Taser-armed Brooks.

This incident originated in a Wendy’s restaurant drive-thru lane, when others in line reported Brooks sleeping in his car impeding their ability to order and receive their purchases. It didn’t take long for swiftly assembled protesters to arrive on scene, initially slashing the tires of police cruisers. Their violence rapidly escalated as they set fire to cars parked outside the restaurant and then torching Wendy’s. News reports described the mob cheered while the building, situated precariously close to a gas station, became engulfed in flames.

Protests also took place at police precincts around Atlanta, as I-75 and I-85 were shut down by the thugs.

Mayor Bottoms, a Democrat who presides over a sanctuary city for illegals, and came out as an early Joe Biden supporter, won the mayoral race in 2017, after receiving only 26% of votes in a crowded field. She then defeated a fellow City Councilwoman in the subsequent runoff election.

The Atlanta-Journal Constitution newspaper exposed Bottoms’ illegal hiring practices following her election.

Crime is rampant in the “tolerant” city of Atlanta, where the chances of becoming a victim of violent crime are 1 in 125. In the state as a whole, the number is 1 in 306. The statistics can be seen here.
