Minneapolis Councillors Vote To Disband Police Department?!
Minneapolis City Council members have officially declared plans to dissolve their police department after the Black Lives Matter movement. Lisa Bender, Minneapolis Council president, announced the shocking decision at a Black Visions Collective and Reclaim the Block rally on Sunday. Bender stated that the council’s plan is to ”end our city’s toxic relationship with the Minneapolis Police Department.”. She went on to add that ”It’s our commitment to end policing as we know it, and recreate systems of public safety that actually keep us safe.”.
