Gender neutral report, bland coverage of federal officer shot by drive-by assailant

A drive-by shooter, referred to as “a person,” was taken into custody after shooting a security officer with the U.S. Marshall’s Office outside the Sandra Day O’Connor Federal Courthouse in downtown Phoenix before noon on Tuesday.

The officer, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, was later released from the hospital.

This shooting follows the weekend ambush of two Los Angeles County sheriff deputies who were in their parked car when a man walked up and fired multiple rounds shooting each of them in the head. Both deputies required surgeries and are in critical condition.

One of the reporters, Bree Burkitt, is likely in a quandary over how to report on a shooting where the victim is an officer. She holds preconceived notions that law enforcement officers are vicious aggressors and indiscriminant murders who are not punished for their crimes, writing, “Police are shooting people in all walks of life and all Arizona communities.” According to Burkitt’s calculations, they “shoot someone every five days.” Reading as much of this as you can stomach will serve to enlighten how the radically left-wing newspaper actually feels about our law enforcement personnel.
