Dems attacking Judge Amy Barrett have forgotten Obama’s words

Americans have been watching the senate confirmation hearing of 7th U.S. Circuit Court Judge Amy Coney Barrett, 48, President Donald Trump’s most recent nominee — his third — to the U.S. Supreme Court following Neil Gorsuch (2017) and Brett Kavanaugh (2018).

A more accurate description of the lurid, vile line of questioning hurled at this stellar federal appellate judge would be, “disgraceful spectacle.”

Her faith has been denigrated, as has her family of seven children, two of whom she and her lawyer husband adopted from Haiti. Her answers to intentionally contorted questions have been met with graceful wisdom.

Notre Dame Law School Professor O. Carter Snead described his former student using these words:

“There’s just consensus: Amy Barrett, is the best student, the smartest and most talented person to ever come through the University of Notre Dame Law School.”

Such praise does not dissuade the leftist minority members of the Senate Judiciary Committee who are in a frenzy, as illustrated by Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) who put her boorish partisanship on display when she asked:

“Since you became a legal adult, have you ever made unwanted requests for sexual favors, or committed any physical or verbal harassment or assault of a sexual nature?” As if that wasn’t enough, Hirono continued, “Have you ever faced discipline or entered into a settlement related to this kind of conduct?”

Barrett’s judicial philosophy was secondary to Hirono’s futile efforts to confound her. Other democrats engaged in similar contrivances to no avail

Both absurd questions received a respectful, “No, Senator” response.

Democrats are enraged that Judge Barrett, a former Notre Dame law professor, considered former Justice Antonin Scalia, for whom she clerked, a mentor. The vacancy she has been nominated to fill was created by the recent death of 87-year-old Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a deeply rooted liberal, who early in her career had been chief counsel for the ACLU. Still, she respected and enjoyed a friendship with constitutional originalist Scalia, despite their philosophical differences.

This was the bi-partisan roll call vote when Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the 7^th Circuit Court of Appeals by the U.S. Senate October 31, 2017.

Expect underhanded deceit this time around. The judiciary committee is set to vote on October 22, meaning the senate can’t formally begin to consider Judge Barrett’s nomination until October 23. Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, would then have to move the Senate into executive session, which requires a vote. Democrats are poised to thwart the process by not having a quorum present, which The Daily Wire reports Senate Minority Leader Democrat Chuck Schumer has threatened.
