NY Sheriffs tell anti-turkey Gov. Cuomo to stuff it

Although New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced a crackdown on Thanksgiving scofflaws who invite family and friends to their home for Thanksgiving dinner, he’s getting blowback from law enforcement who refuse to implement his restrictions.

Washington County Sheriff Jeff Murphy wrote, “Who and how many people you have at your house for Thanksgiving is your business. I think we’ve all had quite a 2020 and can use our own best judgment without government oversight of a sacred and special holiday.”

Cuomo’s imposition of Thanksgiving restrictions in private residences exemplifies the overreach of leftist political entities, who believe they were elected to something more supreme than the office they hold.

Warren County Sheriff Jim LaFarr joined with Sheriff Jeff Murphy, saying they would not enforce the order, citing a lack of authorization and constitutional concerns.

He said law enforcement cannot enter someone’s house without obtaining a search warrant, a process that could take hours.

Murphy, who is president of the state’s sheriff’s association,  and has served in every facet of the law enforcement since 1983, also noted that the executive order does not clarify what a law enforcement official should do or who they should arrest or ticket if someone is found to be in violation of Cuomo’s order.

On Wednesday, Cuomo criticized local law enforcement officials who said they would not enforce the state’s 10-person limit on indoor gatherings. Cuomo declared they have no business being in law enforcement if they are going to choose which laws to enforce.

“I don’t believe as a law enforcement officer you have the right to pick and choose what law you will enforce,” Cuomo announced. “An executive order is a law.”

“Is it hard to police? Yes. If you see it, stop it. That’s really the point of the law. Don’t invade privacy or anything like that, but if you see it stop it,” he said.

Cuomo omitted his actual ‘belief’ which is his driving core: I come from a leftist political dynasty and telling people how to live is my destiny.
