US Rep. Debbie Lesko target of leftist newspaper’s lies

Representing her constituents jump-starts negative campaign

Vile hatred of Republicans oozes from the ink of the dying Arizona Republic newspaper. Not only was there a daily onslaught against President Trump throughout his candidacy and term in office, but each of the Arizona GOP members of congress are in its cross-hairs. They have all been the subject of negative editorials and wild mischaracterizations. Truth is a mere annoyance that plays no role in the ongoing attempt to sully Arizona’s Republican delegation.

The latest incendiary headline, focusing on District 8 Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, is a case in point. Though a contemptible lie we are reprinting it since so few Arizonans subscribe that merely alluding to it has no real impact. These are the words the newspaper actually used as a headline:

“Lesko says Americans need COVID shot, not Hispanics.”

It’s ludicrous enough to appear to be misread. But there was no mistake.  This intentional deceit is laying the groundwork to amass an arsenal of venom to hurl at Lesko during her 2022 reelection campaign. In November 2020 Lesko, who previously served in the AZ House and Senate and as Senate President Pro-Tempore, trounced her democrat challenger 59.56% to 40.43% — a nearly 20 point spread.

What the absurd headlined article intentionally distorted was Lesko’s rational explanation that American citizens should be prioritized as limited dosages of vaccine are distributed.

“You know, we’re compassionate people, but for goodness sakes, we have to take care of American citizens, or people that are here legally, first,” Lesko said. “I’m just not going to be able to explain to my senior citizens that we’re giving away the vaccines to people who are here illegally. I think that’s totally wrong.”

On U.S. Rep. Lesko’s congressional homepage is an entire section devoted to Coronavirus. This page is specifically titled in bold type VACCINE INFORMATION and provides numerous sites to obtain the vaccine in CD8 as well as links to Maricopa County’s website and Arizona Department of Health Services websites for county and statewide vaccine information.
