A Manhattan federal judge appears poised to allow a sex-abuse lawsuit against Prince Andrew to move forward after a remote hearing on the embattled royal’s motion to dismiss the suit Tuesday.
During the virtual hearing, a lawyer for the Duke of York and an attorney for accuser Virginia Giuffre argued over language in a settlement agreement inked in 2009 that Andrew’s lawyers have said shields him from legal liability.
The secret agreement, which was unsealed Monday, was signed by millionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and Giuffre. Andrew’s lawyers have said it blocks Giuffre from taking legal action against “other potential defendants,” including Andrew.
In her lawsuit, Giuffre claims she was forced to have sex with Andrew at least three times — in London, New York and on Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean.

Prince Andrew’s legal team face further pressure after a victim of Jeffrey Epstein claimed last night that Virginia Giuffre told her in 2001 that she had had sex with the Duke.
Carolyn Andriano, who testified in the trial of sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, has claimed in an interview with the Daily Mail that the then-17-year-old Ms Giuffre confided in her at the time of the incident.
Ms Andriano’s claims are the first contemporaneous report of the alleged sexual assault. Prince Andrew strongly denies any wrong doing and has previously said that he cannot remember meeting Ms Giuffre.
Prince Andrew’s representatives were contacted for comment.
Both Prince Andrew and Ms Giuffre’s legal teams are waiting on a decision from a New York judge about whether their civil case can go to trial.
The judge overseeing Prince Andrew’s bid to dismiss the lawsuit from Ms Giuffre promised to hand down a ruling “pretty soon” after a heated hearing on Tuesday. However, no decision has yet been made.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Prince Andrew’s lawyers argued the 2009 agreement signed by Epstein and Ms Giuffre protects the Duke of York and should be grounds for dismissing her current suit against him.

A royal expert recently broke down the verdict Prince Andrew received against his accuser Virginia Giuffre.
ITV’s Christ Ship broke down this analysis while interviewing with Good Morning Britain.
He started off by admitting, “I mean, I dialed into that court case from this side of the Atlantic yesterday, it was a virtual hearing in New York.”
“And it would be fair to say that I’m not their lawyer, but it would be fair to say that the judge didn’t look or didn’t seem to be too impressed with the arguments that were being put to him by Prince Andrew’s lawyers.”
He also went on to add, “Not only on that document we discussed yesterday, you know, this 2009 documents.”
“When the judge said, ‘look, the only people really that can enforce that document are Epstein and Virginia do freight herself and one of those, of course, is dead’.”
He even admitted, “And when the prince’s lawyer, Andrew Brettler, tried to put it to the judge that Virginia Giuffre hadn’t been clear enough in her allegations against the Duke of York.”
“The judge simply replied, that’s not a dog that is going to hunt here. So you know, you don’t have to be a lawyer to understand that the judge didn’t seem too impressed, but we now await his verdict.”
