Your father would be very proud of you Juan. I never met your dad, but he visited my home town in the early sixties to celebrate the completion of the San Luis Dam. I went deer hunting with my dad instead. When your dad was murdered in 1963 I was 15 years old and felt devastated. When I attended high school even the football players were weeping. For some reason I realized that Bobby and Martin would be next. Of this I had no doubt. Fortunately for me I forgot this foreboding. Years later in about June of 1970 a friend of mine all but handcuffed me and took me with him to the Greek Theater in Berkeley where Bobby Kennedy was speaking and deciding if he was going to run for president. We were all very excited. It was a great speech. Did I say we were excited! My friend then forced me to say hello to Bobby after his speech. I didn’t want to bother him, but my friend refused to take no for an answer. So he accompanied me to Bobby’s white convertible where he stood looking very tired and mobbed with little old ladies yelling, “Bobby, Bobby.” My friend then insisted I shake Bobby’s hand. I refused, but my friend forced me to the front of the crowd where I shook Bobby’s hand. I believe he was shot the following day. We all felt forlorn. Such a brave man as was his brother and so well spoken. They both were incomparable speakers. It was then that I re-remembered that all 3 would die.
