The Truth About AZ Congresswoman Debbie Lesko? Be careful who supplies it

Debbie Lesko is well known to Arizona Republicans who have consistently reelected her since she initially was elected to the state legislature in 2008, serving in both the state House and Senate where she held leadership positions.

Currently, she represents Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. In May 2018, she was sworn in to the U.S. House of Representatives after winning a special election and is now reelected for her second full term. Her full bio can be read here. She is pro-life and a Second Amendment supporter, which aligns with her constituency who have continually returned her to office by wide margins.

Her popularity and stellar résumé, it turns out, are problematic. The Hillary- endorsing, Biden-supporting, Trump-despising, failing Arizona Republic, desperately trying to appear relevant, has decided to emulate Lizzie Borden, and take an axe to Lesko. 

Failing at drama, as its subscriptions dwindle, the newspaper’s banner headline facilitating the hatchet job — attempts to be clever — missing parts of the headline letters. It initially appeared to be conserving on ink, since it has even skipped complete editions to paying customers as a cost saving device. Instead, it was opting for, but failing at, creativity, with a slippery all-caps headline, “Filling in the blanks..Lesko left out.”

The great reveal is U.S. Rep. Lesko’s personal saga of a youthful marriage to a man who emotionally and physically abused her while creating financial havoc that put him in jail. This account, or variations of it, unfortunately is repeated all too often. Now a member of congress, Lesko, remarried for years, with three grown children, has a remarkable political career and stands as an example of rebuilding one’s life.  None of this was unknown, but now is worthy of above-the-fold, front page coverage along with two jump pages of salacious spew.

Also causing the newspaper’s caldron to boil is her on-going support of the policies of former President Donald Trump and voting against the democrat-led impeachments. Lesko is viewed as a stalwart by conservative Republicans, who remember the soaring economy, affordable homes, being able to fill the gas tank without cringing, and tossing T-bones on the grill for a cookout without thinking twice. We had a president who fulfilled his campaign promises, including securing America’s southern border, was a commanding presence on the world stage and one who visited the pope without embarrassingly having to change his pants.

The irrelevant local newspaper is on an irreversible downhill slide. Congresswoman Debbie Lesko is on a rising trajectory. Jealous rage drives the newspaper’s negativity. Satisfaction with U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko keeps her voter base reelecting her. This is not rocket science.
