The cashier became immediately suspicious, and went through the process of reporting a counterfeit bill, as she had been trained to do, and the police showed up as if it were a robbery.
The man who was trying to pay was shocked at the accusation, and the young cop agreed with the cashier and promptly slapped the bracelets on the innocent man and took him downtown to be booked on charges of trying to pass phoney money.
The man was in his jail cell when an old desk Sargent at the police station verified that there was no crime, and a $2 was a real thing.
