Dr. Jorjani: Did the Nazis Have the Atomic Bomb? Secret Tests & Clean Fusion

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

STARTS AT THE 40 MINUTE MARK.

Could Nazi Germany have developed and tested a nuclear weapon before the United States conducted the Trinity test? Dr. Jason Reza Jorjani raises that extraordinary possibility during Episode 522 of the Sean Ryan Show, pointing to wartime eyewitness accounts, Germany’s nuclear research, a mysterious U-boat shipment, and postwar experiments involving physicist Ronald Richter. Jorjani goes even further, proposing that Nazi scientists may have been investigating something potentially more advanced than a conventional atomic bomb: a fusion reaction initiated without using a fission bomb as the trigger.

One of the central pieces of evidence discussed by Jorjani is the account attributed to German pilot Hans Zinsser. According to the account, Zinsser was flying in early 1945 when he witnessed an extraordinary explosion, reportedly describing an extremely bright flash followed by a powerful pressure wave that affected his aircraft. Jorjani argues that several characteristics described by Zinsser resemble those associated with a nuclear explosion. If that interpretation were correct, the timing would be remarkable because the United States did not conduct the Trinity nuclear test until July 16, 1945. However, Zinsser’s account by itself does not establish that Germany successfully detonated an atomic weapon.

Jorjani also discusses Italian journalist Luigi Romersa, who claimed that during World War II he was taken to a German weapons-testing location and witnessed the demonstration of a powerful new weapon. According to the story presented in the interview, observers were placed inside a protected area before witnessing an enormous flash and blast. Romersa reportedly later inspected the devastated area while wearing protective equipment. Jorjani views the Zinsser and Romersa accounts together as possible evidence that Germany was conducting highly advanced weapons experiments during the final months of the war.

Another intriguing part of the story involves the German submarine U-234. Following Germany’s surrender in May 1945, U-234 surrendered to American forces while attempting to reach Japan. Its cargo included uranium oxide along with German technical personnel and other military material. Jorjani connects this shipment to a much larger theory about the Manhattan Project. He argues that the United States was facing difficulties involving fissile material and plutonium weapon development and that German material and expertise helped solve critical problems. From there, he advances the far more controversial proposition that important nuclear technology developed in Nazi Germany was transferred to the United States as the Third Reich collapsed.

The most unusual part of Jorjani’s argument concerns fusion. Conventional thermonuclear weapons developed after World War II use a fission explosion to create the extreme conditions required to initiate fusion. Jorjani proposes that German researchers may have discovered another method: initiating fusion through extremely powerful electromagnetic processes without first detonating an atomic bomb. If such technology existed, he argues, it could help explain why an alleged German nuclear test might not have left the radioactive signature expected from a conventional fission weapon.

Jorjani connects this possibility to physicist Ronald Richter, who went to Argentina after World War II and gained the support of President Juan Perón. Richter became the central figure in Argentina’s secretive Huemul Project near Bariloche and claimed that his experiments could produce controlled thermonuclear reactions. In 1951, Perón publicly announced that Argentina had achieved controlled nuclear fusion based on Richter’s work. Subsequent scientific investigations rejected Richter’s claims, and the project was eventually shut down. Jorjani, however, suggests Richter may have been pursuing technology rooted in secret German wartime research involving extremely high voltages, electromagnetic fields and unconventional methods of producing or containing nuclear reactions.

He then connects this hypothesis to the controversial story of Die Glocke, or “The Bell,” an alleged German experimental device associated in later accounts with high-voltage electricity, powerful electromagnetic fields and unusual materials. Jorjani proposes that if such research existed, it may have had applications beyond the anti-gravity or propulsion theories commonly associated with the Bell. He suggests related electromagnetic research could have been connected to attempts to initiate nuclear fusion without a fission trigger. There is no generally accepted historical or scientific evidence demonstrating that Die Glocke possessed these capabilities, and the extraordinary versions of the story remain disputed.

That leaves perhaps the biggest question: If Nazi Germany really possessed an atomic weapon—or something even more advanced—why wasn’t it used as Allied armies closed in? Jorjani proposes that by late 1944 and early 1945 Germany’s military situation had deteriorated so badly that even revolutionary weapons might not have reversed its defeat. He speculates that advanced technology could instead have become a bargaining chip, with scientific knowledge, scientists and technology potentially exchanged as the Nazi state collapsed.

There is an important distinction between documented history and Jorjani’s larger interpretation. Germany did pursue nuclear research during World War II; U-234 did surrender carrying uranium oxide; German scientists and engineers entered American programs after the war; and Ronald Richter really did conduct controversial fusion experiments for Juan Perón in Argentina. The much larger claims—that Nazi Germany successfully tested an atomic weapon, developed a practical clean-fusion weapon, or supplied the decisive technology behind America’s atomic bomb—remain disputed and are not part of the generally accepted history of World War II.

But the questions raised by the testimony and the surviving historical record remain fascinating: What exactly did these alleged witnesses see? What were German scientists attempting during the final months of the Third Reich? And did some of that research quietly find its way into postwar programs?

Dr. Jason Reza Jorjani explores those questions in Episode 522, “Tesla’s Hidden Technology, Psychotronic Warfare & the CIA.”
