Are You a Cat Person or a Dog Person?

There is nothing better than owning a pet, and whether you get a cat, a dog or a fish, pets can often provide a kind of support, camaraderie and love that most of us lack in our human relationships. Outgoing

The more outgoing a person is the more likely they are to be a dog person, as extraversion is very much a dog person trait. Cat people on the other hand are more likely to be neurotic types who keep to themselves, and these people often find it hard making new friends.

Open Minded

Cat people are for the most part far more open minded than dog people, and more likely to be willing to try something new or consider completely different possibilities. Dog people are very much like their pets in that they don’t like change, new ideas or most new things, and so while being more outgoing, they are far more conservative than cat people.

Active

Your activity level will often help to determine which kind of pet you prefer, as dogs are far more high maintenance and therefore appeal more to the active types, who would want to be out walking or running anyway. Cat people on the other hand are more than happy not to leave the house for the entire day.

Independent

Cat people are by and large far more independent than dog people, who instead are more likely to be clingy. Cat people are more likely to feel comfortable doing their own thing, and travel solo, whereas dog people will wait so they can go with someone from their pack.

Country Versus City

As a simple matter of space, city people are far more likely to be cat people whereas country folks are more likely to be dog people. While dogs are still common in the city, cats are far more popular in high-density downtown city dwelling than are dogs, though it’s hard to say whether it is a matter of choice or practicality.

House Party Versus Dinner Party

Cat people are more likely to be the kind of people who like getting together with an intimate group of people for a dinner party and a night of socialising. Dog people are more likely to want to invite 200 people over and hold a rocking house party. Cat people will likely attend the rocking party although they’d never throw one at their own place.

Dogs and cats are wonderful creatures, and while the experience of keeping them as pets is very different, both provide a type of unconditional love that no human can get enough of.
