I Want to Go to Pig Beach

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

There’s an island in the Bahamas that has some very odd animal behavior.

You see, it has a population of feral pigs that have learned that the tourists will feed them.  Being pigs, they just can’t wait to get to that food, so rather than waiting for the tourists to come ashore, these piggies head right into the water.

Paddling their hooved feet, with their schnozzles sticking out above the water, they swim out to the boats for their treat.  The beach has now been dubbed “Pig Beach.”

Watch the video below to see these pigs in action.  (I’d be remiss as a naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation not to also point out that feral pigs are HUGE ecological problem.)

It’s not about the animals. It’s about the way animals make us feel. Watch the latest Animal Planet videos and full episodes. Surprisingly Human.
