Tiny Ant Drags Giant Wasp
We’ve all heard that ants are incredibly strong for their size. It’s estimated that some ant species can carry over 100 times their own body weight.
Today, that strength was on full display at the National Wildlife Federation headquarters in Virginia. Two of my colleagues were going for a mid-day fresh air break and spotted a natural drama taking place on the sidewalk in front of them, and captured the photo below.
Seeing this ant, many times smaller than the wasp, dragging the larger insect shows just how powerful these tiny creatures can be.
