This is something that TPTB could learn from, if they had human emotions.

SO SWEET of you to rescue the little guy.

    • dabu

      Awesome!

    • Dustdevil

      A. This was not a squirrel, it was a prairie dog.
      B. You spent an hour, at work, resuscitating a rodent.
      C. Prairie Dogs are a prime natural carrier of Bubonic Plague.
      D. Prairie Dogs do significant damage to homes and other structures, costing millions each year in insurance expenses.

In one hour, it is easy to shoot between 100 and 500 of them on most any over-populated ‘dog town’.

You actually accomplished nothing. Imagine if you had donated this same hour to a human homeless shelter, etc.?

Nope – not worth the effort, obviously.

      • TheSinner

        A. You are not a human , you are a dustdevil
        B. You spent an hour watching a vid , not working , of a rodent being saved.
        C. Dustdevils are not living beings , they are just a freak of nature .
        D. Read A, B and C again and keep yourself busy for an eternity

        • Dustdevil

If I told you that you were right, would it scare you at all? Probably not.

That’s ok, I have a great sense of humor too, just as long as it is done with tact.

BTW, living and existing ARE two different things.

Eternity is a word far larger than any mortal mind can begin to fathom, but I promise, I DO have a lot to keep me busy, even if I am old and retired here. For now.

Oh, and your ESP is atrocious. I fast forwarded through about 49-minutes of him poorly chest-pumping this little creature (the tedium was rather boring). I did waste about 11-minutes though, just to watch the sad little fail at the end.

Please remember that you hated me, yet you don’t know me at all. I did nothing to you. This is totally unimportant to you now, but will be paramount later.

          Thanks.

      • TheSinner

I hate you ?? I dont hate people , but i do hate lots of their actions .
Your comment on this vid just was not fair .

All you can come up with is : “He shoud have let the creature die , and walk over to the homeless shelter ?!”

This man happened to be near the pool seeing a praire dog drowning , he saved it from drowning .
Somebody that takes the time to save a little animal , will also take good care of his fellow human beings !

YES – definitely worth the effort

Whenever I am in need of help , i rather have this man around , then you .

On the other hand I do agree with you that people love their domestic dogs, cats, etc much more than they love their fellow human beings . I also find that rather discusting . But that does not mean you may not save an animal while you have the chance .

Good schooling video about how to resuscitate some small animal after drowning. That worker seems to have a good instinct for handling “our smaller siblings” as Native Americans are said to have called animals. Well, it was not “worth the effort” for it was only a prairie dog he rescued, a potentially noxious wild rodent, and not an animal considered worth some money – but do all our actions really have to be “worth the effort” in this sense?

“HE´d better have helped a homeless human being.” OK I understand this criticism, but he met with this little rodent that needed rescue, and not with a drowning man. I am sure he would have helped a human being as well.

Many people who, when grown-up, take helper jobs, as nurses, docs, priests, etc., “exercise” and develop their helping abilities during childhood by handling and rescuing animals… or they got smaller siblings which they attend, helping their parents… or both. One should never discourage others, whether children or grown-ups, from following their natural sense of compassion about weaker creatures. Not even because of fear of bacteria.

Had I been discouraged from things as taking birds caught for prey off of the claws of our cats to try to rescue them, I would perhaps not have studied Medicine and never have become a compassionate Homeopathist.

In such situations one also learns who to save and who to give a coup de grace. Yes, this too must be learned.

I remember that duckling which I “hatched to the end” under my shirt… I was eighteen years old then. My brother had accidentally trod upon a duck´s egg with a “half-ripe” duckling in it; you know duck mothers often neglect the nest after some of the ducklings have come, letting the ducklings in the eggs that ripen too late die off… and he called me to see whether the duckling had a chance to live.
No, it was two eggs he had broken, and two ducklings in question.
One of them showed a bleeding wound on its head, and did not move when I took it in my hand,
      so I quickly and silently killed it off by breaking its neck;
but the other, though cold as ice, was not injured and moved coordinately when it felt my warm hand.
“This one will live” I thought, and I placed it under my shirt, upon my bare belly, and kept it there during that afternoon and evening and also during thenight.
I dared not to sleep deply that night, knowing I could suffocate the little one when accidentally turning in bed… and wishing to know what the duckling was doing… well, whenever I woke from my light “mommy role ” sleep I felt it moving its little feet on my belly…
and when I woke next morning, and took the blanket away, a healthy little duckling eagerly walked toward my face right upon my body, and uttered happy beep-beep sounds, and moved its little wings to keep equilibrium while walking…
      unforgettable.
I then got out with the llittle one to see where the mother was… she was out foraging for food with the young that she had hatched to the end, four of them…
and I put ‘”my” duckling on the ground, and it gave a beep, and the mother answered, and then my duckling eagerly ran to Mom and his siblings and I was glad they recognized each other and said good-bye.

I dont need church to tell me animals have a rite to this planet as well as humans who are more destructive than any squirrel or prairie do.

i ripped my heart when i had to kill one caught up in my fan belts on a VW Passat.
To get to him took an hour, front bumper and substructure had to be dissembled.
      His liver was hanging out.

Thanks for saving one of God’s little ones.

its nice to see this sometimes
helps me to remember that not all people are animals..
      some are kind..

      • FindtheTruth

Don’t insult animals. They are kind. Insult demons. They deserve it.

    • The Real Deal

Yikes, could be a ban. I am no fan of Dustdevil, but I wouldn’t go that far. Gotta bite the tongue sometimes, bro.

    • Dustdevil

Let me guess, you go to church with that mouth.

    • The Real Deal

What does church have to do with this?

    • The Clucker

Although I do believe that he did the right thing saving the prairie dog, Dustdevil is right to some extent. In Western South Dakota they are so over-populated that they dig up the ground and ruin farmers’ fields, meaning that they are effecting human beings’ ability to produce food. They are so over-populated that you can hunt them with no limits. If you really wanted to you could shoot them by the thousands and thousands and it is completely legal. It would be impossible to exterminate them all or even make a dent in the population.
