Four Reasons to Get a Cat

Today, it seems that everybody loves cats. They are furry, cute, and provide endless entertainment with their hilarious antics. Cats have certainly taken over YouTube, with millions of cute, funny, and downright ridiculous cat videos on every social media platform out there. And, that’s not even getting started on their weird facial expressions that can quickly become a viral meme (grumpy cat, we’re looking at you).

But, watching cat videos on YouTube and cat ownership are two very different things. If you’re thinking of getting a pet, you might be considering getting one of these unique little creatures for yourself. Here are some great reasons to think about becoming a cat mom.

#1. They’re Independent:

Work long hours? Work from home? Simply put, your cat doesn’t care. As long as you’re there at least twice a day to make sure that their food bowl is full, replenish their toilet with clean cat litter and let them out the back door for a prowl around the neighborhood, your cat will be quite happy to entertain themselves for the rest of the time. Some cats might need a bit more love and attention, but you can try using supplements such as CBD oil for cats. Compared to many other pets, this makes them one of the most low-maintenance options out there, which is great for anybody who leads a busy lifestyle.

#2. They Do Love You (Honestly):

Some cats find it easy to show their love. They’ll jump up on your lap and purr loudly, lick your hands and face with their raspy sandpaper tongue, and weave in and out of your legs to rub their head all over your ankles as you’re walking down the stairs. Others are more reserved when it comes to physical affection but might have other tell-tale signs of showing you how much they care, like spending hours conquering one of the evil mouse or bird kind and selflessly presenting it to you as a gift straight away. It really all depends on the cat, but there’s no question that they love the person who feeds them.

#3. They Keep You Entertained:

Cats certainly have a way with entertainment, which is why there are so many videos of them doing the rounds at any given time. Whether you just want a creature in your house who’ll make you laugh or are thinking of starting your own YouTube channel, a cat is the perfect pet for the job. Imagine watching your cat chasing her own tail or running around the house after an invisible prey from her imagination, before sitting down and sticking one back leg in the air to give her stomach a good ol’ clean. There’s no question about it; cats are funny.

#4. They’re Cheap and Cheerful:

Unless you go for a high-maintenance pedigree type of feline, most moggies are for the most part, a cheap and cheerful pet to have. Cat food isn’t too expensive, particularly if your cat isn’t the fussy type and will eat any brand you put in front of him. Yearly injections are reasonably priced and if your cat needs to be neutered or spayed, many vets will do this at a discount simply because of the sheer amount of rescue kittens today.
