Tsunami Evacuations come Too Late

EVACUATION ORDERED AFTER” IT” HIT

Las Penitas, Nicaragua 3-11-2011

We were forced to evacuate the hotel, Playa Roca Beach Hotel, and close down. We called the U.S.Embassy and they told us there was no measureable effects basically south of Mexico at, but the Nicaraugan authorities made us evacuate anyway. They didn’t want to see or hear any news from CNN or Fox TV, or any real media source, just GO! It was really stupid, if the tsunami was supposed to hit us, if it ever did, it would be at 3:46 PM. They closed us down (threatned to close us for a month if we didn’t) officially at 4:10 PM, after we would have been hit! Lost a whole day/night of guests, most of them International vacationers, plus any guests that would have stayed or come. Even the next day people stayed away for fear of the tsunami, like they, a tsunami, regenerate themselves at any time.

Cookie, my wife, woke me around 6:15 AM warning of the Japan earthquake and insuing tsunami. I was on the computer and in front of the TV for 9 hours straight, only one pee-pee! Went to our famous volcanic rock formation at tsunami time and watched our normal 4 footers smash into the rocks until past sunset, wow, it was beautiful, but strange to see the beach so empty both north and south, miles of empty beach, a total graveyard feel, devoid of life on such a gorgeous day/evening.
