How very fortunate that I got to join 11 students April 1-5, 2013 for a Robert Burridge workshop at the Dena Wenmohs Ranch, painting and sharing a huge barn studio. I got back home this afternoon as it’s about 4 hours away and left on Easter Sunday. The above painting was done on Monday, day 1 when we talked about materials and got our first assignment of painting with black and white plus a color during the study of value and contrast. . Bob’s job was to inspire us and give us permission to paint like we’ve always wanted to paint and he said we learn to paint by painting. We had a goal to pretend we had a Friday art show and to produce a body of work with a theme. I choose the theme “Friday Night Date” and painted with that in mind and using words from the area. “Call Me First” has some text at the bottom of the painting that inspired the title. In the coming posts I will share other paintings from the class. Below is a photo of Bob and me and this was my 14th Bob Burridge workshop.

Jean and I were roommates and stayed in the “big house” with Bob and Dena and Dena cooked lunch for all the students and the students brought food to share in the evening. It just doesn’t get any better than taking a Bob workshop at Dena’s with old and new friends.
