Settling/unsettling
Home for a few days before heading off to Crickhowell to work in a school, and also do an event for Bookish in Crickhowell, one of my favourite bookshops. For the few days I am at home I am trying to catch up with admin and push forward with The Unwinding as well as working on the ‘secret project’ that is challenging my painting skills……
So, first thing I will be doing is Letters to the Earth for an hour, 11-12 in the cafe upstairs at Bookish. This is not an ‘event’ but a gathering. I will be reading from Letters to the Earth, probably from Nick Drake’s poem from the Farewell Glacier, also from Ben Okri, Arundhati Roy, maybe The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse…. and others. Hoping my good friend Karin will be joining me and bringing things to read also. Here’s a facebook invite to the Letters to the Earth, which also celebrates the Xtinction Rebellion. If you could please share and spread the word.
There will also be a Welsh launch for this book on 14th November in Solva Woollen Mill at 2 pm, readings beginning at 3pm. Do come and again, please share and help us spread the world. If you can’t come you can still order signed copies from the mill.
I’m also doing a public event for The House Without Windows in Crickhowell, at 6pm on Saturday 9th November in Crickhowell Primary School.
Meanwhile I had a wonderful meeting with Unbound to talk about progress for The Unwinding. You can read about it on the micro site for the book, and see the ideas fro the cover, still being worked on, questions and answers all the time!! And there is still time to pledge to get the ‘special edition’ copies. There’s a place for bookshops to pledge also to secure the special editions in advance of the general release. I’m hoping to give those who support the production of the book something unique to their copies, a story that will only be a part of their edition.
It’s unsettling, all this moving about. I have two more events to do this year and then I will be home until April and the Spellsongs tour. I am looking forward to spending time here, reading, walking, thinking, painting. When I am home I will endeavour to do a Letters to the Earth gathering every Friday.
