The Sign Of Leo releases new single 'The Global Fight'

European indie rock crew The Sign Of Leo have released a new official single about COVID-19, “The Global Fight.” The single has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry. Tinged with ’70s soul and played way deep in the groove, “The Global Fight” by The Sign Of Leo belies their usual modern indie sound to deliver an anthem describing the 2020 pandemic in a way no one else has yet achieved.

The Netherlands’ The Sign Of Leo have cited as main artistic influences legends including David Bowie, Talk Talk, Neil Young, and Tears for Fears, but “The Global Fight” is a departure from this sound. Instead, “The Global Fight” cleaves to Motown and soul music by titans such as the Temptations and Marvin Gaye. Nevertheless, the overall spirit of Sign of Leo is still ever-present and palpable in their new single, so fans new and old will both find much to love in this new, socially conscientious offering.

Asked to talk about the inspiration for their new single, The Sign Of Leo write: “’The Global Fight’ was written to honour and support those fighting the corona virus, everyone working in healthcare and nursing all over the world, those who are working very hard to cure people from this illness.”

The Sign of Leo’s current official bio describes them as an indie rock band from Groningen in northern Netherlands.

“The band creates a broad palette of sounds culminating in a melodic, atmospheric rock sound with a melancholic touch. The music of The Sign of Leo is rooted in the history of pop music with influences from the ’60s and ’70s with faint echoes from the early ’80s.”
