Corby, the dumbest cannabis smuggler ever... or innocent?

Today, Schapelle Corby begins her tenth year in the overbearing overcrowded squalor of an Indonesian prison, for a crime she did not commit.

This is not just an issue of injustice, of another innocent person wrongly convicted. It is an issue of flagrant abuse of human rights. It is an issue of corruption at the heart of her own government. It is an issue of sustained mental torture and cruelty, fuelled by political self-interest and callous indifference by those elected to serve.

Her original ordeal, at the hands of a brutal judicial system, was open and transparent. Evidence was an inconvenience, to be avoided when possible, as the judges refused her desperate requests for fingerprinting, DNA testing, and seizure of local CCTV footage. The evidence that was available was contaminated, as the judge and prosecutor openly handled it without gloves, and it was eventually burned with her pleading helplessly for it to be retained. Again, and again, her legal and human rights were abused.

All this was endorsed by Alexander Downer, and other Australian politicians, who told the media that they saw nothing wrong in such a flagrantly abusive process. This is a matter of public record.

Also on record are the comparative figures for sentencing. Her 20 years was a high multiple of anything awarded to an Indonesian for any similar offence. Her own government turned a blind eye to this too: even discrimination and racism were rubber stamped.

But, this was the merest beginning of a long list of political abuses, which she was to endure, alone. It was just the start of a catalogue of sustained malversation, perpetrated, astonishingly, from Canberra.

In 2011, The Expendable Project began to publish a whole cache of official documents, obtained through many Freedom of Information requests, submitted under different names to avoid suspicion that an investigation was underway. These proved the full and shocking magnitude of the abuses, by government ministers, and by the former commissioner of the AFP, Keelty.

Vital, life critical, evidence was wilfully withheld. This was fundamental evidence, which would have freed her without a shadow of a doubt. It was conclusive proof of her innocence.

An example? Her boogie-board bag was the only one not scanned at Sydney Airport: baggage handlers, known to be corrupt and engaging in criminal activity on that very day, had selected it, and that ONE bag bypassed the scanning system. Keelty, Ellison, and Howard, all had this information. None of them told Schapelle Corby, her lawyer, or the Bali court.

Another example? She had checked-in her bags in UNDERWEIGHT: no excess charge had been asked for or levied. When checked afterwards, her bags were 5kg OVERWEIGHT. That’s correct, according to the Qantas system, 5kg had been added to the weight of her bags AFTER they left her hands. She was never told, and neither were her lawyers, or the Bali court.

Remember, there is no scope for doubt here. These are written ministerial exchanges and official correspondence. This is black-and-white government documentation. It REALLY happened. An Australian government really did this to an Australian citizen. And the Australian media has never reported it, despite being notified repeatedly from September 2011 onwards.

It gets worse, much worse.

The refusal to test the marijuana, which Schapelle Corby begged for, wasn’t just a result of the court’s indifferent to the concept of justice. It was frustrated, behind the scenes, by Keelty and Ellison, and a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, which simply accepted what unfolded before it.

Press commentary turned the screw further, as Keelty told the media, two weeks before the verdict, that there was no evidence of airport drug syndicates using innocent passengers. This was clearly, demonstrably, and utterly, false. But it hammered more nails into Schapelle Corby’s coffin.

All parties were falling over themselves, often with contradictory stories, to excuse the failure to provide any CCTV footage from 800 cameras across THREE Australian airports, which, again, Schapelle Corby was begging for.

Her appeal was wrecked, courtesy of a QC friend of Ellison, who had been pushed upon Schapelle Corby’s family through unstinting pressure.

Her financial means of an extraordinary appeal — her book royalties — were seized, via the illegal extension of Australian law beyond its own borders. Even more serious, this political theft occurred whilst she was still in legal-process in Indonesia. Yes, Canberra branded her a criminal and sent this signal directly to Jakarta before her final appeal.

Correspondence and briefing notes prove that ministers deliberately misled parliament, and lied to the public, again and again. All these documents are there to be seen, written by their own criminal hands.

On and on this went, one appalling abuse after another, over a period of years.

And what happened when the material, which proves every single word of this, emerged, and was published online?

It was ignored, by the entire Australian establishment.

The dysfunctional, self-serving media have not reported a word of it. They have replaced it with obnoxious smears and outright lies, using the death of Schapelle Corby’s father to get away with it. Dead men can’t sue, so for years they have sold a myth that he was a drug lord, despite this being debunked utterly and completely, and even being laughed at by the police. They have abused and ridiculed an innocent hard-working family, using the most nauseous of tactics.

They have systematically shifted public opinion, against a woman in absolute turmoil, censoring the most blatant acts of corruption from public view. None of them have had the integrity, decency or courage to abide by the most elementary journalistic ethic: report the facts.

Australia’s politicians? They know all of this, and have known it since 2011. Mathaba News Australia has contacted politicians of all parties and they’ve refused to even acknowledge whether or not they’ve looked at the documentary evidence of the Expendable Project regarding the 10 year incarceration of an innocent.

The last parliament was bombarded with emails, every week, from members of the public, pleading with them to act on the material published by The Expendable Project: pleading with them for an innocent life. They looked away. They continue to look away. They closed ranks with their own.

They have watched suffering to a level they cannot even conceive. This is suffering which has inflicted serious mental illness on the courageous soul who refuses to yield: who refuses to make the false confession the two governments would dearly love, to help them bury their own malversation.

This is what they have done to her, as reported last week in The Australian newspaper:

• As Schapelle Corby’s parole edges closer, her Bali psychiatrist has stressed the ‘Australian drug smuggler’ is still suffering severe mental disorders and will face challenges adjusting to life outside Kerobokan jail.
• Corby’s mental illness, diagnosed by an Australian psychiatrist in 2009, would dog her after her release, Lely Setyawati said yesterday after visiting her patient at the jail clinic.
• Dr Lely said Corby remained schizoaffective, suffering mixed schizophrenia and affective disorders, or bipolar disorder.
• “It’s difficult to cure. She must take medication every day to stop hallucinations, sometimes delusions. She is still suffering, still paranoid,” Dr Lely said.
• Corby yesterday appeared “sick and not happy, she doesn’t smile”.
• Despite Corby‘s reported enthusiasm about her imminent parole, Corby was afraid and did not know if she was making the correct decision.
• “I asked her how about your freedom, parole? She says ‘I don’t know if it’s the right thing’.”
• Under her parole conditions, Corby will have to remain in Bali until September 2017. Had she chosen to serve her full term in jail receiving remissions, she would be free to go home in September 2016. Corby was eligible for parole last year after serving two thirds of her sentence. She originally received a 20-year jail term for smuggling 4.2kg of marijuana into Bali in October 2004. She has always denied the allegation.
• She was granted five years’ clemency because of her declining mental health.
• Her parole application in Bali was approved on Wednesday. A further hearing is expected in the next fortnight in Jakarta at the office of the Director-General of Prisons. It still may be months before she wins final approval for parole from the Justice Ministry.
• Dr Lely’s concern about how Corby would cope outside the jail centres on her confusion, paranoia and her intense fear of media scrutiny.

She has been shattered, destroyed, traumatized, tortured… and the Australian establishment could not care less. They want her out of the press. They would clearly prefer her to be dead.

This is a shame Australia as a state will not recover from for generations. Whilst she has suffered, the public has been spoon-fed its opinion via fabrication and censorship, with Canberra almost sneering when presented with the hard evidence of one of the greatest scandals the nation has ever known.

The silver lining, against this background of festering malfeasance?

It’s Schapelle Corby’s incredible courage in standing tall, regardless of the horrors they have inflicted upon her. It’s her gallant family, who have stood by her and endured a level of vilification which exceeds anything levied against mass murders, terrorists and rapists. And it is you, the honest compassionate free-thinking people, who have discovered the grotesquery of the hidden truth, and who fight tenaciously and valiantly for an innocent life, using the sword of truth and the shield of integrity.

That sword of truth is on the website: www.expendable.tv … it is the government’s OWN documentation, the cast iron proof of their self-interest corruption and the sale of an innocent life. They will never bury it. It is there, and it shines like a beacon against a tide of lies and misinformation.

One day, it will turn that tide, and the Australian people will learn what their own establishment really is, and that Schapelle Corby is possibly the greatest ever Australian, having withstood the gross malevolence of two morally bankrupt nations.
