The Divine Masculine
And Feminine For Contrast

Most people have never heard about the idea of the divine masculine and most who have heard about the concept essentially have no idea what divine masculine is. Many people can currently conceptualize the idea of toxic masculinity as opposed to divine masculinity and most are against its perversions but what direction to take next. I want to simplify, as much as possible, the concept of the divine masculine. 

    In order to conceptualize divine masculinity I began with defining the energy of masculinity and femininity in contrast. I utilized the Philosophy of The Duality of Polarity of feminine and masculine energy to slice away the superfluous and societal to find fundamentals. With this Occam’s Razor (4 looks like a knife) approach the fundamentals of the feminine and masculine divinity becomes clear and unhindered by national, traditional constructs.

    The Geometry of Energy also assisted this energy construct to illustrate the divine feminine and the divine masculine. The energies demonstrate below are related to the four dimensions of geometry, points, lines, planes and solids. Points and lines are masculine, and planes and solids are feminine. 

The energy of the divine feminine is both receptive and creative. 
 
The energy of the divine masculine is both reflective and projective. 

    The potential for these each of these energies to be displayed in one or the other, male or female, is clear, but the tendency of the archetypal energies lean in the above manner.

    The Dao is made up of feminine and masculine energies, each codependent on the other and mutually arising within the other and potentiating each. The story of one without the other is fruitless. The same goes for the story of individuals, we require a combination of energies for comprehension and potentiation.

    In order to perhaps better understand both forms of divinity it is helpful to contrast the feminine and masculine. The divine feminine, which may be as rare a character in the world as the divine masculine, is at least more well understood. The feminine energy is caring in an all-encompassing manner being capable of being receptive to and adopting all energy. The divine feminine embraces everything in a motherly circle and in contrast is capable of creating a whole other being of solidity onto itself. The divine feminine is open/caring receptivity and total potential creativity.

    The divine masculine embodies reflective and projective energies. Instead of being receptive to energy the divine masculine reflects it. Instead of being creative the divine masculine is projective. The divine masculine reflects energy like a shield. And the divine masculine projects energy like a sword. This archetype has led to the masculine perversions where institutionalized warriors and the perversions of war-minded has led to abusive behavior and the accepted comparison of love and war.

    The difference between the divine masculine and the perverse masculine is the difference between a martial artist and a soldier. The most basic principle of martial arts is to never attack first. A soldier is paid to follow orders, attack first, or whatever. The reflective energy of a mirror is similar to this reflective masculine energy. Whatever is shown in the mirror is shined directly back. If the divine masculine is shown quality and caring energy it is reflected in return and if the divine masculine is attacked, with aikido like redirection, the attack is reflected back.

    The divine masculine also is projective of energy. The projective energy is a direct willfulness of the individual into the collective. The divine feminine is creative of whole other beings and the divine masculine wills its own being. Of course, the creation of the divine feminine requires at least the energy of the masculine just as the projection of the divine masculine also requires aspects of the divine feminine.

   These energies are theoretic and helpful as a guide for comprehension of self and social situations in contemplation. In reality, in the moment, if there is any doubt as to what embodies divinity, simply seek to enact care. The more you push forward compassion and care the more your divinity unfolds.

    Further if you are a man contemplate adding receptivity and creativity to your form and flow to engage balance, and from balance refinement is possible. Alternatively if you are a woman contemplate adding reflectivity and projectivity to your own form and flow.

    There is another expression in martial arts that embodies the divine masculine or at least presents a notion or rule that is preventative of the perverted masculine. The notion is to never attack in anger.

“In Aikido we never attack. An attack is proof that one is out of control. Never run away from any kind of challenge, but do not try to suppress or control an opponent unnaturally. Let attackers come any way they like and then blend with them. Never chase after opponents. Redirect each attack and get firmly behind it.” ~Morihei Ueshib
