The event was organized by Rabbi Aryeh Lipo who envisioned it while on his way to the funeral of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky in March. Lipo ascends to the Temple Mount on a daily basis (when the Israeli police permit Jews to enter) but was deliberating with a friend which was more important: to attend the funeral of a tzaddik (righteous Jew) or to ascend to the Temple Mount

“The Third Temple is also mentioned in the book of Revelation when John is told to measure it – a symbolic way of telling him to assess its spiritual condition – Revelation 11:1-2.”

(Rev 11:1,2) This measuring relates to the holy places in the sanctuary ”which symbolizes the people of God” who come “through the Tribulation” 

Bible prophecy associates the Antichrist with the building of the Third Temple (2 Th. 2:3-4). (The First Temple was built by Solomon, and the Second Temple was built after the Jews returned from the Babylonian captivity and was extended and glorified by King Herod, so that it was called Herod’s Temple.)

Antichrist—Third Temple Period
The Antichrist will become the dominant person during the seven-year tribulation period. The Bible provides a plethora of prophetic information regarding the Antichrist’s political, economic and religious advancements during this third temple period. We will examine this distinctly dispensational issue over the next several articles.

Antichrist In The Temple Deception

In this end times prophecy study, we’ll focus on the “temple” in 2 Thessalonians 2:4, which many Pastors say is a future rebuilt Jewish temple, where the Antichrist will proclaim to be God.

What you will learn is that the Antichrist system is already seated in the temple of God, and proclaiming to be God.

If you’ve read the The Beasts of Daniel and Revelation study, then you know that the Roman Catholic Church is the ‘Antichrist Beast of Revelation‘, the ‘Little Horn of Daniel‘, and the Pope is the ‘Son of Perdition‘.

If you’ve read the 70th Week of Daniel study, then you know that the foundation for the 7 year tribulation period and the need for a rebuilt Jewish temple is invalid.

Keep in mind that when the Apostle Paul wrote 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, the Jewish temple was still standing, as it wasn’t destroyed by the Romans until 70 A.D., so any reference to a physical temple would have been to that temple, not an end times temple.

So what does Paul mean?

To understand that, let’s look at how Jesus defined the word “temple.”

In John 2:14, Jesus spoke of the physical temple. The Greek word for the physical temple is hieron.

“And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers doing business.”

Then just five verses later in John 2:19-20, Jesus spoke of the spiritual temple. The Greek word for the spiritual temple is naos.

“Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” But He was speaking of the temple of His body.”
