No More Waste! 5 Weird Ways to Reuse Plastic Bottles

The earth is dying and it’s our fault.

We won’t get into the politics of global warming, but we can all agree on one thing: pollution is bad. And how can you or I, just a regular person help?

Coffee Creamer Snack Holder

You know those yummy bottles of coffee creamer that come in every flavor you have and haven’t ever imagined? Well, once you clean them out, they’re perfect to hold snacks.

When you’re done with the bottle, strip the wrapper off and clean both the outside and the inside with hot water. Then, set it upside down on a bottle rack (or the short rod of a paper towel holder).

Let it dry then fill it up with snacks, or coffee beans, or even some soup you want to take with you to work. Screw the cap on and you’re ready to go.

Kid Friendly Watering Can

If you have a milk jug (smaller is better) or an orange juice bottle, then you have the perfect watering can for small hands.

All you need to do is clean out the inside and the outside of the container. Take the cap off and make sure you soak it in soapy water.

Then, with a drill or a nail and a hammer, make holes in the cap. You want about ten holes overall. Fill it with water and let your kids go water your garden or houseplants.

Honey Bear Bottle Light

You know that honey bottle in your cabinet that’s almost out, in the cute bear shape? It’s about to be your child’s favorite night light.

Once it’s empty, clean it out – well. You may need to soak it, then wash it, then repeat the process. If it’s a thicker plastic, it can probably survive the top shelf of the dishwasher.

Once it’s free of sticky stuff, spray paint it whatever color you want. You can then use a sharpie to draw on the details like the eyes and nose.

Take an Exacto knife (parents only) and cut out the bottom, where the bear stands.

Then take one of those small (bright white) LED fake tea light candles and stick it in the bottom hole. You can duct tape the bottom to the bear or hot glue it.

Just make sure you don’t cover up the light switch or the battery compartment.

Our final recycling craft is probably the easiest. All you need to do is clean out a large plastic bottle and poke a series of holes in one side.

Then screw a connector on your hose and onto the neck of the bottle. Now you have a cheap – basically free sprinkler!
