Everywhere you look, you’ll run into a surprising water fact. This is because, in addition to you and the planet both being comprised of water, the molecule is a resting point for many chemicals. 

Indeed, the chemical properties of water were the basis for some of the earliest thoughts into alchemy and foundations of science. All of this naturally leads to the notion that there are benefits of taking a bath.

What are the specific benefits, how do you target the ones you want, and how much time in the water is a good thing? All these questions and more discussed below. 

Benefits of Taking a Bath

Before cooking was well understood, soaking was a common practice. Even today cooking is circling back to sous vide has a way of cooking things precisely with heated water instead of air or contact.

Float tanks and other forms of sensory deprivation start with getting you out of your skin and then out of your head. 

When your muscles relax in a nice hot bath, your brain gets the same signals as when you’re going to sleep. Things go on autonomous and free up the mind to process.

Hot springs aren’t just warm water, they are laden with minerals. These minerals serve two purposes, one they help transport the heat evenly so that the water stays hotter longer. It is much the same as why you add salt to boiling water for pasta.
