Guest Writer for Wake Up World

A lucid dream is any dream in which one is aware that one is dreaming. The phenomenon was referred to by Greek philosopher Aristotle who observed: “often when one is asleep, there is something in consciousness which declares that what then presents itself is but a dream”.

One of the earliest historical references to personal experiences with lucid dreaming was by Marie-Jean-Léon, Marquis d’Hervey de Saint Denys. The person most widely acknowledged as having coined the term is Dutch psychiatrist and writer Frederik (Willem) van Eeden (1860–1932).

In a lucid dream, the dreamer has greater chances to exert some degree of control over their participation within the dream or be able to manipulate their imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can be realistic and vivid. It has been shown that there are higher amounts of beta-1 frequency band (13–19 Hz) experienced by lucid dreamers, hence there is an increased amount of activity in the parietal lobes, making lucid dreaming a conscious process.

disagree completely. when it comes to lucid dreaming or even remembering your dreams. the very last thing you want to do is introduce a mind altering substance. it prevents you from acheiving R.E.M.(Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. this is the final and deepest point of sleep in which you begin to lucid dream. Smoking some herb will not let you reach this point and you wont remember your dreams nor will you be able to reach a point of consciousness in your dream to “wake yourself up” inside the dream.

Really, really?????……. Ive totally proven you wrong, time and time again, its what it took to open my eye, and answer many questions about my insomnia issues, so called wannabe experts like yourself couldnt answer.
A lot of people need to stop thinking their so called case studies, or lab rat tests are the truth to whats known about dreaming. Does your quoted info take into account the many issues that prevent people from sleep, let alone reaching lucid dreaming or REM sleep?…. let me help ya, “NO”
You preach about “Waking yourself up”, yet your mind is so closed from being so far up your own arse, you dont understand that, different strokes for different folks, now STFU thinks they know it all!!

I was playing CoD2 Black Ops last night and i played several matches with a player using the name ‘Lucid Dreams’. Someone on the headset asked what a Lucid Dream was. LOL, how bizarre that today i see a story with that exact reference of ‘Lucid Dreams’ in it. This world is weird, isn’t it?

How many times have you had a persons name in your head and then the next day, something happens and includes that persons name? It’s happened a few times in my life, but this one hit me right away.

Are there such things as coincidences? Some people say no, they don’t believe in them. How many times have you heard that? I think that coincidences happen. But sometimes they really stand out. Like this one.

I’ve had Lucid Dreams before. But i somehow mange to always get woken up before i can get the hottie back to my apartment for some fun. I hate that! LOL

lucid dreaming is like a muscle the more you work it out the better it works. Thats why you kepp waking up. its the most common thing that happens to people who havent learned how to control their ability to lucid dream.keep trying and eventually you wont have to get her back to your place you can just imagine that you already have her there and BOOM! there she is and there you are in the exact place and situation you just imagined. ive done it A LOT and its the coolest feelign ever. think “inception” thats how you do it basically. think it and its there
