“No one seems to cover (or uncover) what’s underneath A Flat Earth – no mention of it either. AND If it’s molten rock that’s underneath then it should contribute to its ‘flat’ shape.”

 Members of the Flat Earth Society claim to believe the Earth is flat. Walking around on the planet’s surface, it looks and feels flat, so they deem all evidence to the contrary, such as satellite photos of Earth as a sphere, to be fabrications of a “round Earth conspiracy” orchestrated by N.A.S.A and other government agencies.

Everyone knows the Earth is round–except maybe the members of the Flat Earth Society. But have you ever wondered what our planet would be like if it were more like a plate than a ball? Would things look any different for us? Would people really fall off the edge if they got too close? Or would there be no edge?

You Know This:

While the Earth appears to be round when viewed from the vantage point of space, it is actually closer to an ellipsoid. However, even an ellipsoid does not adequately describe the Earth’s unique and ever-changing shape. Our planet is pudgier at the equator than at the poles by about 70,000 feet.

Scientists probing the Earth’s interior have found a large reservoir of water equal to the volume of the Arctic Ocean beneath eastern Asia. THE RUSSIANS are digging through land to reach down just below the earth’s crust to the mantle and expect to dig from six to nine miles down within three to five years. 

 The digging is being done at five locations in the USSR, Prof. Vladimir V. Beloussov of the Soviet Academy of Sciences said in Berkeley, Calif. He is president of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, which held a two-week meeting in Berkeley, Calif. Scientists from 60 nations attended

LONDON, Feb. 1 (UPI) — Researchers have returned from nearly two months at sea having failed to accomplish their goal of drilling to the center of the Earth.

 ”We may not have made it to our goal of 1,300 meter, but we did drill the deepest-ever single-leg hole into hard rock, 789 meters, which is currently the 5th deepest ever drilled into the hard ocean crust.”
