WE PETITION THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION TO:
Stop purchasing billions of rounds of ammunition and stop stock piling it!
End the purchase and stock piling of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition and armored vehicles.
DHS cannot conceivably need all this ammunition.
Hollow point ammunition is illegal under U.N. therefore this ammunition is not for fighting wars abroad.

The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.
Add to this perplexing outré purchase of ammo, DHS now is showing off its acquisition of heavily armored personnel carriers, repatriated from the Iraqi and Afghani theaters of operation. As observed by “paramilblogger” Ken Jorgustin last September:
“[T]he Department of Homeland Security is apparently taking delivery (apparently through the Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico VA, via the manufacturer – Navistar Defense LLC) of an undetermined number of the recently retrofitted 2,717 ‘Mine Resistant Protected’ MaxxPro MRAP vehicles for service on the streets of the United States.
These MRAP’s ARE BEING SEEN ON U.S. STREETS all across America by verified observers with photos, videos, and descriptions.”
Regardless of the exact number of MRAP’s being delivered to DHS (and evidently some to POLICE via DHS, as has been observed), why would they need such over-the-top vehicles on U.S. streets to withstand IEDs, mine blasts, and 50 caliber hits to bullet-proof glass? In a war zone… yes, definitely. Let’s protect our men and women. On the streets of America… ?”

The one big thing. See them and tell everyone else to. If you don’t think it’s happening over you, think again. You’re breathing it so are your kids. It’s everywhere. Seems to me guns or food don’t really matter if we’re being sprayed.

Fact: Lake City ammo plant’s annual production is 1.6 BILLION, total, which is 6% of the Pentagon’s annual requirement. If that is the Pentagon’s annual requirement, then they were shooting a hell of a lot more ammo than 5,000,000 per month in Iraq.
The Pentagon BUYS ammo from about six foreign countries and five domestic commercial ammo companies to make up the shortfall. The GAO said it took 250,000 rounds of small arms fire to kill each enemy combatant in Iraq. So…..it took a lot more than 70m rounds to fight the Iraq war. THESE figures were published in various arms trade magazines (INCLUDING Aviation Week And Space Technology.) three to six years ago. (LINK ) So, at this enlightening figure, DHS doesn’t have a whole lot of ammo, certainly not enough to control Detroit.

DHS uses 160 million rounds for training and qualification each year.
40,000 agents in twenty sub-departments including Border Patrol, Customs, Security Services, ICE, etc. That’s a lot of ammo. Americans possess about 170 billion rounds of ammunition, adding about 16 billion each year.
In a weekend class, we shoot about 8,000 rounds. Sounds like a lot, eh? Well, 15 students, but it’s only 533 rounds per student.
Every round is a controlled training experience. No blasting wildly.
Some serious SWAT schools will have students firing 10,000 rounds in four days. They will burn out a barrel in four days in their M4 5.56 carbine. So, while some speculate that the USG is buying up all the ammo, it’s bogus.
Citizens will buy about 16 to 18 BILLION ROUNDS this year.

In the mist of gun control and possible gun ban, the most irresponsible and tyrannical act by our own government in a sense would be corner the market on all popular ammunition.
