Iowa Couple Discovers Hidden Treasure In Their Home After Tearing Down a Wall

Everyone dreams of discovering hidden treasure. For one couple in Iowa, that dream just came true. Kevin Brannen and his fiancée Kristina Hokansen were hoping to find some sort of lost or hidden treasure while renovating the new home they just bought.

After reading lots of stories about people finding secret artifacts or even passageways in historical homes, Kevin thought his chances of finding something valuable were pretty good.

“I was just thinking that this could be a goldmine, because, you know, sometimes people just find things in their home from years before,” Kevin said.

While tearing down walls, Kevin’s keen eye spotted a mysterious bottle hidden behind a wall near the fireplace. Turns out the hidden treasure was an actual message in a bottle written almost 83 years ago!

Although the hidden treasure wasn’t worth any monetary value, its sentimental value is priceless! The letter was written by a 13-year-old girl named Katherine, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 94. When Kevin and Kristina reached out to Katherine’s family, the reward was greater than finding any materialistic treasure.
