Hack Reveals Dark Side of Mass Surveillance

An international hacking group named- Advanced Persistent Threat 69420 has taken credit for a major hack of Silicon Valley startup Verkada Inc. who provides a web based camera system.  The hackers were able to access 150,000 live camera feeds.

Unfortunately all those web based cameras installed in sensitive places like jails, hospitals, schools, and inside of companies—are also viewed and recorded by Verkada administrators.  So there is no privacy if you purchase their products.  Note that the police have tapped into those doorbell camera streams people have install on their front doors.

Even worse, some of these cameras have Facial Recognition technology, which companies are using on their own employees.  Verkada is trying to claim that feature was only a trial.

Here are some of the reveals and expect more video to be released:

• 222 cameras in a Tesla supplier warehouse and from Tesla production line in Shanghai China (we thought Tesla was an American company?)
• Siemens
• 333 cameras from Huntsville County Jail.
• Cameras in rebuilt Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
• The Salvation Army
• Equinox Fitness Club
• Red Lobster
• California Pizza Kitchen
• Lazy Dog Restaurants
• City of Parkersburg West Virginia
• Oklahoma City
• City of Aspen, Oklahoma, Yucaipa

Over 5,200 customers and how many use Facial Recognition?

Verkada motto-  “We’re making security as seamless and modern as the organizations we protect”  They left off– “and Spy On Our Customers.”

Verkada also had to fire three former employees using their product to watch female employees inside their own offices.  We can only imagine some of the images captured inside the jails and gyms that are soon to be released on social media.

Yes hacking is bad, but the results in this case demonstrate the deep extent of the evil use of technology in the surveillance state; who would purchase a product where the product manufacturer can spy on you for the lifetime of the product?

We can say the same thing about those Amazon and Google personal assistants and those Smart Televisions.  They are listening to and watching all Americans; because that’s what Technocrats do.
