We are clearly living in difficult and even dangerous times, times that are speeding us toward the start of the Tribulation period. No one knows exactly when it will officially begin though we do know the event that will kick it off from Daniel 9:27. There we learn that the coming man of sin (2 Thessalonians 2), will enter into an agreement with the leaders of the nation of Israel for a seven-year treaty, which will be said to guarantee them peace for at least that duration of time.

Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.

The “he” in the first sentence is generally understood to be the coming man of sin or Antichrist, who will sidle up to Israel’s leaders and convince them that he can obtain peace for them and that he has their best interests at heart. What Israel’s leaders won’t realize is that it’s all being done in order to allow Israel to build their Tribulation Temple. Once that is completed, the same Antichrist who entered into a seven year treaty with Israel and Arab nations, will waltz into the rebuilt Temple and desecrate it by declaring himself to be God and demanding to be worshiped (2 Thessalonians 2:4; see also Revelation 13 & 17).

We’ve discussed the fact that these coming events will not occur in a vacuum. Things will build toward those situations and will likely do so with increasing severity. I believe that we are seeing a good deal of this happening throughout the world right now as global society becomes far more overtly anti-Christian and anti-Jew.

For instance, I recently read of an older woman who was arrested outside an abortion clinic for praying on the sidewalk. Apparently, she’s gone to trial, been found guilty and faces ten years in prison for her “crime.”

We also know what occurred on January 6 with people who went to the capitol to hear Donald Trump speak and then went into the US Capitol building. Many of those people have been arrested and held literally in isolation and confinement without trial. At least four have committed suicide because of the unfairness and continued harassment of the US government. Others have entered into plea deals because of overzealous prosecutors who threw everything they could at these individuals including “insurrection.” Many of these people are going to prison for long sentences.

New Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, has promised to release all 44,000 hours of video tapes of J6 and has already begun doing so. [1] We can see on one video, an individual dressed with MAGA baseball cap and mask, who as he approached a checkpoint, showed his badge. In another case, a person who had been clearly handcuffed was escorted down a hallway and there, was released from his cuffs and we watched him fist bump the other LEOs. Questions continue surrounding the involvement of Ray Epps as well, who, so far has not been arrested for doing the same things that other did and were arrested.

Will there finally be justice for the J6 people who have been unceremoniously tossed in jail without due process, without speedy trials? Who knows? It seems the media is not interested in reporting anything that isn’t the approved narrative. There may never be justice for these people and considering the fact that the J6 congressional committee was made up of hand picked congress people by Pelosi with not one of them being a true conservative, it appears that the fix was in.

But while all of this is going on, it should be very clear that the USA’s federal government has gone seriously rogue, having installed Marxists who are obediently doing what their handlers tell them to do. Plus, we have many people in Congress who, under the guise of being “conservative,” are actually far-Left. They simply claimed to be GOP when they ran for office, said what they needed to say to get elected and then after they won election, we saw their true colors come out. The fact that this exists in both the Senate and House of Representatives means that too often, Democrats and RINOs maintain the majority. Most recently, these Democrats and RINOs ensured that Secretary Mayorkas was not impeached from office. At all costs, the Left will do whatever it takes to maintain their status quo, against the will of conservatives and the very fabric of the US Constitution.

Here’s my point and please let this sink in. The current iteration of the US federal government is on a mission to attack, defame, and even incarcerate true conservatives and true Christians. They want to shut us all down from social networks and society itself. This being the case, while we should not cower from the government, we should not go looking for trouble either.

I can understand the desire of some to go to the US Capitol to hear Donald Trump speak on Jan 6th, but was it expedient to do so? After all, there were many warnings before the event indicating something serious was in the works to trap conservatives.

By the same token, is it important to physically go to an abortion clinic for the sole purpose of kneeling on the sidewalk in prayer? Couldn’t that be done at home? Now, if someone honestly believes God would have them do that, then by all means, they should do that. I don’t want to try to talk them out of it. I’m simply asking people to seriously consider their actions, seek God and His wisdom, and be sure.

Abortion is such a politically charged issue, people should think two or three times before being accused of “blocking” a clinic (even when standing on the public sidewalk). Maybe there are other ways to help? Our church has a special program for young, unmarried expectant moms. The older women in our church come alongside these often young girls who have become pregnant by their boyfriends. These young moms are encouraged, embraced, treated with respect, made to feel welcomed and not judged. The church puts on showers for them and our membership does what it can to ensure their needs are met, walking them through the entire process to birth, offering as much support as possible so that they will not abort their unborn child.

I may be wrong, but something like this seems far more expansive and reflecting the love of Jesus, than kneeling on the sidewalk in front of an abortion clinic. At the same time, I do fully understand that some Christians believe they have a ministry to women who go into abortion clinics. They stand outside on the public sidewalk and try to present options to the women and steer them away from murdering their unborn child.

The problem though is that Abortion Inc will do whatever it can to protect its industry. Not only do they make money from the actual abortion, but they are then able to sell parts of the baby in the organ trafficking trade. This reaps tremendous profits. In that case, those who attempt to minister to expectant moms outside abortion clinics (and possibly turn them away), are seen as enemies or “domestic terrorists” by our illustrious government. As such, that government will come down on them with as much as they can throwing them in prison for years.

I also continue reading many articles by prophecy teachers who constantly remind us of the coming problems: inflation, recession, food and other shortages, weather problems and much more. That’s all well and good and I’ve done my share of that as well. However, most of us can only do so much in that regard because most do not have unlimited funds to stock up on freezers (that go to 30 below zero), and food that will keep us going for a number of years. My wife and I have done what we can do and that’s all we can do. We are already paying more for food, just like everyone else. There may come a time when we will have to do without certain things.

But something that is at least as important as that, but not discussed enough, is the rogue aspect of our government and how they appear determined to shut down conservatism and Christianity itself. It’s beginning to remind me of the Roman Empire at times where Christians (and Jews), were blamed for that society’s ills.

Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not telling people what to do here. I’m simply suggesting that Christians take the time to deliberately pray for wisdom in the many situations that we face daily. To me, it seems as though it is becoming exceedingly important to seek and use wisdom and discernment from God in all the situations we face.

The thought of having gone to the US Capitol on that January 6 a few years ago to hear Donald Trump was the furthest thing from my inclination. I had absolutely no desire to go because of the possibility of what might happen, which did. I’ve recently read that now the FBI is actively looking for anyone who was there even if they did not even enter the Capitol building that day. So now, peacefully gathering to hear a president of the USA is also wrong or illegal? Sure, when it’s a communist government.

In another example, if I was a senior pastor of a church and the government told me I had to close my church, I’d refuse as respectfully as possible. If people don’t want to attend because of fear of an illness, that’s up to them. But to close a church building because the government tells me I’m “inciting” people to attend is patently absurd. A pastor of a church has a higher calling than that and his first allegiance is to God Himself. That of course, is true of all Christians, but certainly the pastor as he sets the tone for that particular congregation.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that we are entering very dark times, which will only further darken as the start of the Tribulation approaches. The government is pulling out the stops to go after those involved in “wrong think,” e.g. people who look to the Constitution. Marxist politicians filtered throughout the government, often at very high places, are in the perfect position to make life very difficult for those of us who continue to exercise our freedoms guaranteed under the Bill of Rights.

As Christians, we should be as wise as serpents and as gentle as doves (Matthew 10:16). We should also endeavor to lead quiet lives, as Paul notes to the Thessalonians.

11 that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, 12 that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing. (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NKJV)

If you stop to consider it, Paul is telling us to clothe ourselves in humility. This, I believe is the reason God sends or allows trials, difficulties and temptations to come our way. They are all designed to create within us greater humility, pushing us to go to and rely on the Father. Humility is the very core of Jesus’ character as evidenced by His life. It is what the Father wants to recreate within each of His children. Each trial, temptation or difficulty should remind us of that.
