Haunted Birmingham 

From spooky stories of strange happenings in pubs around the city, to tales of spiritual sightings at Birmingham Children’s Hospital – this text contains an array of interesting narratives that are sure to keep you glued to its pages. 

Many of the accounts recorded in this book will be new to most people which shows the writers really did their homework. One particular story involving the Alexandra theatre is very interesting indeed. 

Written by husband and wife team: Arthur Smith & Rachel Bannister, Haunted Birmingham is a well constructed, well edited book that we would definitely recommend . Not only does it contain in-depth articles about local paranormal phenomena- there is also a good chunk of “brummie” history thrown in too. 

The authors themselves used run walking tours in Birmingham including a Ghost Walk, Graveyard Walk and Crime and Punishment Walk. The walks contained a mixture of ghost stories and local history information, and interestingly, before the passing of Arthur in 2006, they completed a Birmingham University course in “Birmingham Studies” – which surly gave them the authority required for this task.

At around 100 pages, this book is a great little read for locals or anyone interested in the unknown.
