The World's Weirdest Places

Beginning in the world famous “Bermuda Triangle”, Nick takes the reader on a fascinating journey into some of what he regards as the strangest places on earth. From the Berwyn mountains in Wales where it is claimed an ancient fish monster resides, to more recognisable locations like Roswell New Mexico, famous for the …. well, I’m sure you remember – this is surly Redfern at his best.

I have to be honest and admit that, many of the story’s contained in this publication, were completely new to me. That is not the say they will be “new” to everyone – just that, our author has a brilliant knack for searching out mysterious creatures and undoubtedly, a huge library of books on the issue, which, in my humble opinion, makes him one of the very few incredibly knowledgeable authorities in the field.

One such “new to me” place discussed is Reykjavik, Iceland. With a population of only around 300,000, Reykjavik is home to more than its fair share of unexplainable organisms. Tales of elves, hidden people and even trolls are fairly common. As Redfern relays “the trolls of Reykjavik, are without doubt, of equal significance and importance to the people as their elves”. He goes on to state that “the trolls are described as being extremely human-like in appearance and are creatures that can most often be identified by their predilection for avoiding human society and mainstream religion”. Sightings of, and the legend surrounding these mythical beasts, continue to baffle even the most “open” minds today, but still, no-one can argue, it certainly makes for an amazing story.

Nick Redfern is a full-time author, lecturer, journalist and all round monster hunter. Born in England, for the last decade and a half, Nick has lived in Texas where he has penned many of his best selling titles. He writes about a wide range of unsolved mysteries, and has a particular interest in the field of cryptozoology (the study of unknown animals), appearing in many magazines and T.V shows including, Fortean Times, Fate, The History Channel’s Ancient Aliens and UFO Hunters.

So, do I recommend this book to you? – Absolutely!
