One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern (Audiobook)
I’ve read a few of Cecelia Ahern’s novels and loved them because they always seem to leave the reader with a good life message. One Hundred Names is yet another beautiful and emotion filled novel from Cecelia Ahern that will touch your heart with its ultimate message that all of us, no matter who we are, have an important story to tell of our lives.
Our main character Kitty Logan has hit a major speed bump in her career as a journalist. She wrote a story that turned out to be untrue and quite literally ruined a man’s life in the process. She’s now suffering the consequences. Even worse is the how awful and guilty she feels over the whole mess. To make things even worse her friend and mentor Constance is dying.
On a visit Kitty asks Constance what is the one story she wishes that she had written. Constance tells Kitty where she can find the paperwork for this very topic and she will explain it to her. Sadly Constance passes before Kitty can get it to her and Kitty finds herself left with a single piece of paper that has nothing on it but one hundred names.
This piece of paper turns out to be life changing for Kitty. She is determined to find out what the connection between all of these people could possibly be but upon meeting some of them Kitty finds herself becoming a bit discouraged as there seems to be nothing in common between them all. Listening to their life stories though opens a whole new world to Kitty and more importantly to herself.
Kitty is a great character and what I loved most about her was her willingness to open her heart to ordinary people. She grew so much as a person and a journalist over the course of the story and it was wonderful to see.
I listened to the audiobook of One Hundred Names which is narrated by Amy Creighton and I’m so glad I did. I adored her accent and she brought such emotion to the telling of this story that eleven hours seemed to fly by in an instant.
One Hundred Names is a feel good story that teaches us that everyone has a story and that everyone is extraordinary in their own way. If we take the time to listen to the stories that people have to tell we may just find that our hearts are touched in the most special of ways. Highly recommended!
