If It Bleeds by Stephen King (Audio)
If It Bleeds is the latest from the amazing Stephen King. What a perfect time for this book to come out. I was transported into the ever twisty mind of King and thoroughly loved it. I’m not usually one for books with separate stories but when King does it it’s a whole different thing.
The book consists of four novellas – Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, The Life of Chuck, Rat, and the title story If It Bleeds. I enjoyed all the stories and each is unique in its own way. King has always had a way of drawing readers into the world he’s building and holding them captive until the last word. With this collection the title story If It Bleeds is my absolute favorite because he brought back my favorite character, Holly Gibney. We first meet her in the Bill Hodges trilogy and she fast became a favorite for me. She’s very quirky and she makes me laugh. In this novella she gets to be the star and it was just great.
I listened to the audiobook which is a little over 15 hours and those hours flew by for me. It’s narrated by Will Patton, Danny Burstein, and Steven Weber. I’ve listened to Steven Weber and enjoy listening to him but I’ve not listened to Danny Burstein before. However Will Patton is my favorite for Stephen King novels. I love his voice and could listen to him for hours.
So it’s obvious I loved the book. If you’re a King fan of course this is likely already on your list to read but even if you aren’t I still highly recommend it.
