It’s Monday 4/7! What Are You Reading?

Book By Book

We are headed home today, after 29 days and almost 5000 miles on the road, traveling to Texas and back with our camper. It’s been an amazing trip; you can read more about it and see photos on our Road Trip Blog or watch the weekly videos on my YouTube channel (I’ll upload the Week 3 video when we get home today – WiFi wasn’t strong enough the past few days). Week 4 video will be uploaded tomorrow!

I finished reading The Sequel by Jean Hanff Korelitz, and wow! It was just as twisty and surprising as The Plot. I gasped out loud towards the end. Both are thrillers about the publishing industry, and just when you think you have things figured out, the author surprises you again. I can’t wait to meet her at Booktopia (in 25 days!).

Now I’m scrambling to read our book group selection before our meeting on Wednesday! It’s an award-winning YA novel: Everything Sad Is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri. It’s an autobiographical novel about his adolescence in Edmond, Oklahoma (my husband’s hometown where we were last week!), as an immigrant from Iran (and having spent two years as a refugee in Italy). He blends his own story with his family’s colorful history and the myths and legends of Persia. The framework is Daniel presenting his story to his Oklahoma fifth grade classmates. It’s excellent so far.

On audio, we are listening to Pitch Dark by Paul Doiron, book 15 in the Mike Bowditch series about a Maine game warden. My husband read the first couple of books, and I think this is the third one we’ve listened to together. It’s great so far, with plenty of action and suspense.

What are you reading this week?
