Last week, we talked about some home business ideas, one of which was writing ebooks. I thought I’d go a little further into this because it’s something virtually anyone can do in their spare time.

Not only that, but you can get started for free. If you lack patience (like I do), you’ll appreciate the fact that you can get an all-in-one piece of software that will create and format your digital book for you – all for less than $40. It saves people at least a few days worth of time (sometimes more), so figure out what your time is worth, and you can do the math.

Anyway, let’s get back to the ebook writing idea. You can write a fictional story or a how-to guide around your favorite hobby or a real-life experience or lesson you’ve learned. You don’t have to have a degree in writing – but you do want to make sure that you are writing about something you enjoy.

You can spend one day or afternoon writing about a topic that really excites or interests you. Go the the beach, the mountains, a park or grab a spot on a really comfortable sofa.

When you create a unique writing experience, this can become a fun weekly ritual that gives you a chance to escape and relax at the same time. Over time, you will find that just by practicing, you will become a better writer and writing will become easier.

You may also find that you enjoy your time spent writing when you don’t set deadlines or goals – but you simply set aside time to write. Getting your thoughts and ideas down on paper is the first step.

Once you have completed a rough draft, you can then edit it. It doesn’t hurt to have friend read over your word to give some objective opinions as well.
