We will Continue Working to Curb Unemployment Data in Castilla-La Mancha

Stresses that “percentage is the month of February in the least unemployment rises in our region since the beginning of the economic crisis” Data from our region are slightly better than those recorded nationally

Spain, March 4, 2013 – The Minister of Employment and the Economy of the regional executive, Carmen Casero, has reported the unemployment data recorded last February in Castilla-La Mancha, which stood at 274,688 persons, representing a slight increase of 1.13 percent from the previous month and 3078 people. In relation to this data, said that “the government is working to curb unemployment data in our region.” However, as the minister has acknowledged, “is the best month of February since the economic crisis began, because we must go back to 2007 to see a smaller increase than that experienced this year.”

In this sense, Casero recalled that in February 2008 the increase of unemployment stood at 4.33 percent (4381 people), despite having 81,300 fewer people of working age currently existing in Castilla-La Mancha, in February 2009 was 5.69 per cent (8852 people) in February 2010 was 3.32 percent and 6418 people, in February 2011 rose 1.9 percent, with 4,044 people unemployed and finally, in February last year was 3.49 percent, ie 8258 people.

Also, the Minister of Employment and the Economy has reported the generation of 29,686 contracts last February in Castilla-La Mancha, of whom 2670 are indefinite.

Indicators showing positive trend
The Minister of Employment and the Economy has also stressed that, “as has happened in previous months, there are indicators that point to a positive trend in the construction sector, where the annual rate of unemployment has fallen by 2.23 percent, “meaning that hiring is taking place again, as in the Industry sector, where unemployment has fallen by 0.50 per cent compared to last month. In both cases, Casero said that “these are two of the economic indicators that reflect the trend of the economy.”

Similarly, noted that the annual variation is 12.10 percent, four percent lower than two months ago, in his opinion other economic symptom pointing positive trend.

In the seasonally adjusted series, which really reflects labor market movements eliminating the specific situation of each month, such as the end of the season in the olive farm in the current month, the increase in unemployment has been 0.18 percent , which means that the best figure in this series since the economic crisis began in 2007.

In this sense, Carmen Home has indicated that “unemployment in our region has increased this month below the national average, which shows that the structural measures that have been taken by the governments of Spain and Rajoy in Cospedal in Castilla-La Mancha are beginning to bear fruit. ”

Home, in this sense, has said that “the economy is starting to show signs, albeit very thin and light, that the worst of the crisis has passed.”
