After that, no work is required on your part to maintain the url. It simply directs customers to your site and you pay a small renewal fee each year. That’s it.

GoDaddy is one of the most popular domain name registrars (if not the most popular), and you’ve probably heard of them if you’ve ever watched the Superbowl. It’s no wonder that so many people use them. They offer reliable service and an easy registration process. NameCheap.com is another option.

Both of these companies also offer discounts on certain domains throughout the year. You can usually find several name options start start below $10/year at any given time. Their prices are so competitive that lots of people don’t even look elsewhere to find a better deal.

Another option is that you can get a free domain name with them when you host your site on their server. You will need to host your website somewhere, and GoDaddy does offer competitive prices on hosting as well. It’s really up to you what you need, but know that the option is there.
