Let’s end the week by being better hookers. Whoops, I just realized that may have read wrong… I meant “Let’s look at creating effective hooks for your audience.”

You may have noticed, but there is a lot of competition out there. It is seriously rough for a new business to make it’s mark. How the hell are you supposed to grab your audience’s attention? What’s your hook? How do you create a good hook? A good hook can make your business seem more unique and it can also draw in new customers. Creating something memorable whether it’s a slogan or tagline is what it’s all about. Do keep in mind that whatever kind of marketing hook you choose, will be an extension of your brand and will represent you and your company.

Hookers Are Creative and Original

OK, maybe not the kind that stand on the street corner, but the entire point of a hook is to have something that stands out. It’s important to be original and it helps to be creative when you choose the message that will represent your brand. Think about how phrases apply to your products or services and focus on targeting something that relates to your company before expressing a message to clients or customers. This is the time when you should also make your voice and tone distinctive. Using witty hooks can give your brand some kind of clever or humorous feel, while something more refined can provide your brand a classic and chic appeal.

Remember That Hooks Are For Catching Things

You don’t fish with a hook for the fun of watching it sink to the bottom of the lake, so why create a hook that’s going to miss the mark or go over people’s heads? You have to really consider what’s going to make an instant impact and what is going to make a lasting impression. If you want to catch something with your hook, you have to offer something really appetizing. Think about it – how many times have you overheard somebody singing a jingle from a television or radio commercial for a fast food brand? As a local car wash you may not have something as tasty as Mcy D’s McCrack Burgers to go with a jingle and fries, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be original. You could go for shock value with a slogan like; “Dirty Thoughts? It might be time for a cold shower.” Or like our local bus line which is now know as “The best pick up line in town.”

Hookers Always Keep Them Coming Back For More

A simple tagline isn’t going to have much of an effect if it isn’t interesting and full of the characteristics that are important to your target audience. Again you have to offer something of value whether it’s something as simple as a discount or even an online download with helpful tips. In order to do this right it means researching the preferences and habits of your market before setting off to invent a slogan or draft your content. The hook that you choose is a mental sample that you’re giving to your customers before they come in to get the real thing, and while using an external PR company for this type of service isn’t free, it’s relatively cheap in comparison to other marketing tools.

Have a hookers Wardrobe

A hook doesn’t have to be the same forever. While it’s true that some companies are well known by their slogans, if you’re a small business it isn’t likely that your hook will take off right away, so focus instead on making the information surprising and updated. Change it up and use new information with exclamatory and beneficial language. Make it short enough to remember but long enough to mean something to your customers and remember to promise an advantage of some kind when they use your product or service.
