7 Snapchat Content Ideas Your Fans Will Love

If you’re new to Snapchat, you may be struggling to understand how to use this new program to connect with your business fans. The system is half messaging platform and have social media app, so it can be confusing to find the right content for your customers. We’ve put together this list of seven content ideas we’re sure your fans will love.

Flash Sales

Want to announce a 24 hour sale without taking out banner ads? Send Snaps to your followers letting them know what’s happening. Offer them an exclusive coupon code, or reward them for watching to the end of your video by giving them the code at the end.

Let them know to tell their friends to add your account, and get sales like this, as well as similar items in the future!

10 Second Interviews

Super quick interviews make for great Snapchat content. You can ask people at your company why they love working there. You can interview attendees at an event, or do a person about town feature. Let them know ahead of time that they’ll only have 10 seconds to respond, and make sure that you’re close enough to get high quality video and sound.

String several interviews together into a story, then offer a code for customers who watch the whole story all the way through.

Snapchat Contest

Run contests through your Snapchat. Have fans collect a certain number of codes or words from your Snaps over several days (encouraging them to open several Snaps in a row), then snap back with the completed code or sentence to be entered into a drawing or win some free swag. Everyone loves free stuff, and everyone loves feeling engaged and interesting.

Scavenger Hunt

Want to get people prowling through your physical location? Hide an item somewhere in your store, something that clearly doesn’t go with your typical product line. Some people used a stuffed animal, for example.

When a customer finds it, have them send you a Snap of it in order to get a special discount. This will encourage them to explore and see all of your inventory, instead of the one or two items they came in for.

Get Snapchat Filters

Snapchat custom filters are a great way to spread your company’s key brand statements. Perhaps you want to treat your customers like royalty; make a filter that includes a crown. Do you have a great slogan that people repeat?

Make it a banner at the bottom of the Snap. Encourage customers to use the filter and send you the Snap, and then reply with a discount code. People absolutely love getting Snap replies back to their original Snaps.

Unboxing

Unboxing videos got their start on Facebook and Youtube, but they continue to be very popular. Seeing other people open up their products, showing off how they’re going to use them and what they like about them, seems to be a fantastic way to engage customers. Companies send free products to influencers just to get them to do an unboxing video.

Snapchat can also be used in this way, showing off quick snaps of products within a package, letting customers see exciting new reveals. Authors can unbox their new book cover, startup companies can show off the different phases of their product, and businesses overall can offer behind the scenes slice of life content that is particularly interesting to Snapchat users.

Snap Q&A

A great way to engage and intrigue your followers is to hold a Q&A for them. Let them ask business questions, personal questions (to a point!) about employees, or the future for the company. Have them send you their questions in Snaps, and respond the same way.

You can also then develop this into other content by posting an after the fact Q&A on your blog or Facebook page. Customers love the chance to ask questions of their favorite companies, and again, love the feel of having exclusive information.

This can also be an efficient way to ask questions about a product or a service that the customer is struggling with; after all, a picture speaks a thousand words.

While Snapchat is very different from other popular social media platforms, that difference allows it to connect with a very different audience. Those who use Snapchat tend to be younger, are often women, and like it for the short lived history of their photos. They like the privacy settings and familiarity with which it is used.

If a company can tap into that mindset, it is possible for Snapchat to be an invaluable tool in their marketing portfolio.
