Due to this, they need lesser time to cook as compared to the green variety. These can even be roasted, or fried in any cooking oil and can be served with cheese local or exotic. Roasting and frying enhance their sweetness which is naturally there. It also showcases its unique colouring.

It can be added as whole or cut into halves to roasted vegetable medleys or diced and used in the warm salads. It’s easy to segment the leaves of the sprout, or it can be chopped to make other dishes. The flavour of purple brussels sprouts pairs perfectly with bacon, pork and foodstuff that you may like. These were first grown in 1940 by crossing a red cabbage variety with green brussels sprouts variety. Purple sprouts prefer cool climates and non-acidic, moist and firm soil.  When planted in loose soil, their heads will form open rather tightly packed. Their flavour becomes sweet if they are exposed to frost.
